Matrix ressurection
Yawn , i really enjoyed the original but this for me just sucked
I had the same reaction first time but watched it again a few months later and really enjoyed it. I think if you go in expecting more of the same you will be dissapointed but it's actually more of something else.

I think The Matrix has always been a bit of a victim of the success of the first one. The second two aren't actually that bad, they just lacked that impact. The Animatrix box set is top notch too. I feel similarly about Godfather, the third is actually quite good but the level of anticipation for it was through the roof so always destined to struggle.

Rewatched The Gentlemen (8/10) the other night. Everyone is having an absolute whale of a time, especially Hugh Grant. It's nothing particularly ground breaking or new, but it's a lot of fun; when Ritchie sticks to what he knows you're in for a blast, if you like that sort of thing.

Last night we watched a film called Babylon. Brad Pitt and Margo Robbie star.
3 hours of mayhem supposidly about the early days of film making in Hollywood, from the silent days into the talking era.
It's about the rise and downfall of the main characters through from 1920 to the mid 1930's.
It's a strange film with wild parties and even stranger things going on, on set.
If you have 3 hours to kill on a wet day, then go for it.

Im pretty sure I've watched The Gentleman twice and yes it's great. There's a TV series being developed of it, might be Netflix.

Equalizer 3.

I've always liked Denzel in these movies. It's more of the same as parts 1 and 2 but that's no bad thing. Well acted, just the right length screen time. Of course it's all well scripted so everything happens just at the right moment but it's a highly entertaining movie and you really feel good that Denzel is lending a helping hand, a connection forms with the main character. Lovely scenery and backdrop for a fantastic film.

Last Night in Soho

The story of a quiet country girl, with a love of the sixties, who goes to London to study fashion.

Whilst there she somehow travels back to the sixties, or maybe not as she might just be dreaming, and ends up going deeper into a nightmare.

Billed as a horror there's no hint of that for the first half hour, but a well told story all the same, and even though it's nearly two hours long it isn't until the last twenty minutes when you go, 'ah, now I see.'

Mainly a young cast who I've never heard of, but with heavyweight backing from Terrace Stamp, Rita Tushingham, Diana Rigg, and one of the Nolans as an Irish barmaid.

The Journey

An "imagining" of Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness in a taxi before the Good Friday Agreement.

Has it's moments but I have no idea what route they were taking from St Andrews to Edinburgh airport.

SWMBO is presently watching ’Miss Congeniality 2’
She watched the first one when it was on last weekend(?)
Like Eastwood (see above) Sandra Bullock plays comedy well, plus she’s quite a beautiful woman
I watched it earlier
Regina King, who plays the other Agent, is a familiar face, as is Diedrich Bader, the PR/fashion guru, he was Jethro, in the remake of 'The Beverly Hillbillies' (as well as being the voice of Batman, in one animated adaptation)

I had to check, she played Mrs Davis, the HR boss, in ‘The Big Bang Theory’

The Lair of the White Worm

After watching The Devils on Friday I decided on more Ken Russell madness tonight.

Every bit as crazy as you'd imagine, with the bonus of Amanda Donohoe prancing round in a variety of skimpy outfits, it's even worth watching just for Catherine Oxenberg's hilarious northern accent,'eee, tha knows.' 😂
