I watched the entire first film waiting for that joke, it's never said until the 2nd one though!

It's the only thing I remember from either film. It was 40 years ago!
I do remember them being fun, and a favourite in our famliy. About the Nazi thing - I've noticed that in a few films of the era, and yes it is quite jarring. I suspect that in that (american) period, it was just considered another facet of the Hells Angels scene. Just another flavour of "hoodlum", for film/TV purposes.

And watch this crazy scene from Smokey (probably not at work):

Velvet Goldmine. A slightly odd but well done and entertaining fictional account of the glam rock era, where a journalist investigates the faked "assasination" and supposed disappearance of a Bowie like rock star some 20 years prior, interspersed with the journalist's own experiences of that era including his own sexuality and brief affair with said star. Maybe an odd subject but as I say, very well done and engrossing.

Tennet: a time travel based action adventure. Nonsense of course, but cleverly put together and entertaining, James Bond-ish entertainment. Ok it was a big budget film, entertaining and perhaps objectively better than the very low budget "Frequently asked questions about time travel" which I reviewed upthread, but the latter was perhaps more fun

"Point Break". A young Keanu Reeves and Patricks Swazee as, respectively FBI agent and bank robber, which is tied in with the Californian surfing scene. Sounds utterly stupid, but very slickly done, great script, and somehow makes sense. Was prompted to watch it as it's referenced by the Nick Frost character in Hot Fuzz who's obsessed with cop buddy movies. Anyhow, a great film, well worth seeing

Tenet I love .....like most of Nolans films I like the way he messes with time, and people's heads 😍
Point Break...it's a classic dude.Cant tell you how many times I've seen it.Anyone that went traveling in South East Asia in the early ninety's has sat in a restaurant/bar and watched a dodgy copy.
"But I knew you wouldn't miss the 50-year storm, Bodhi."
I watched it again the other night too.😁

Sound of Freedom - 9/10

The story of child trafficking, and how devastating it is, particularly in the US, I wasn't really sure what to make of this going in. It could have been a mess, but I found it really powerful and beautifully shot.

They've also done a really cool "Pay it Forward" option for getting tickets, because it's not the kind of film that's going to get a mainstream release, but it's a really important bit of cinema, without being preachy or annoyingly worthy. It tells the story straight and uncompromisingly, without being gratuitous in any way.

Shazam Fury of The Gods

The next couple of films from DC Comics, Shazam is crap. Dame Helen Mirren is in it and seems absolutely bored throughout - compared to her cameos in Fast and Furious films she seems to realise this film is beyond the so good it's bad category. Lucy Liu is in it ad at least seems to be snarky enough to keep her scenes interesting.

The Flash

Quite good fun to be fair, it's not as funny as it thinks it is but it ropes in enough support from his Justice League teammates without sidelining him in his own film. There are some surprises in store, so I won't say more on that. Apparently this film is supposed to be some kind of reset for the DCU but I've heard that before. Also for one of the characters I really didn't care for in his previous films The Flash does have a story I'm interested in this time.

As ever if you like MC/DC comics these films are worth checking out, but neither has anything I'd recommend to a none comic book fan.

Thought it might be the perfect Netflix choice to fix my insomnia at midnight, but was too bad even to tick that box.

OMFG there's a sequel

I thought the same about Jungle Cruise (2021) and The Lost City (2022). Thought they might be good fun, but the latter especially was rubbish.

Here's a competition for us...

Let's see who can stand Ice Spiders longest! It is available on Amazon Prime Video.

My turn first: 5 mins 23 secs! :okay:

My friend said that it looked like it might be a 'So bad that it is good' kind of film. Unfortunately, it is WAY worse than that!!!

== a really bad film.

There you go. Spend that 90mins on the bike, or re-watching Rocky Horror. No need to thank me!

We found my special edition Rocky Horror DVD and watched it with the kids a fortnight ago.

Also enjoyed the children's reactions to
A) the film
B) the revelation that their parents had ever gone out in public, dressed like that!
