A Star is Born on Amazon (Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper version)

Collateral.
Little Tommy Cruise running and gunning along with taxi driver Jamie Foxxx. Tom trained with former SAS instructor and the allyway shootout is regarded by people who know as one of the best screen shootouts.
Carried off with some style in the manner of Heat, Miami Vice. Enjoyable in places but dissapointing end.

The Karate Kid

Obviously seen it gazillions of times before but last night was the first time my kids (10 & 12) had seen it. It was lovely seeing them experience it for the first time - it’s easy to forget that not everyone knows about “wax on, wax off” and how that leads to a karate defence.

Daniel Larusso is still a jumped up tw*t though. I prefer the Jayden Smith remake.
Josh Gad has done a reunion show with the casts of Karate Kid I, II and III if you are interested.

Suspiria (2018) - 7/10

I wouldn't really call this a remake of Argento's (superior) original as it's totally different, though has similar themes - motherhood, abuse of power, the supernatural. It's overly long, and a bit confusing because it throws so many ideas and concepts at you, but it's a thing of beauty and Thom York's soundtrack is a masterpiece of understatement. I was disappointed that they abandoned physical effects in favour of CGI in the final scene, which they didn't have to do IMO.

I have a Zoom film club with a mate of mine on a Sunday and he pointed out that Tilda Swinton plays 3 completely different characters, which I hadn't noticed. She really is an incredible actress.

This is meant to be satire, but having lived in LA I disagree, it's more like a mirror held up to all that is awful about the city. It's a hard watch as every character in it is deeply, deeply unlikeable which makes it really hard to watch, but the acting is brilliant and typically of Cronenberg it's really well put together, although it didn't really feel like his other films, possibly because he didn't film it entirely in Ontario.

Man On A Ledge (Netflix) - Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks. (my 5th time of watching the film)

Disgraced cop tries to clear his name in a totally unconvincing way - but it may have a certain charm which enables you to overlook the flaws or not as may be the case.

Ava stars Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and John Malkovich. Hit girl run by Malkovich gets on the wrong side of Mr Big (Farrell) - Mr M tries to smooth things over but to no avail.

Sort of Kill Bill/Jason Bourne type film with all the enthusiasm sucked out and replaced with tired cliches - so file under " not bad if there's nothing else on"
Yep, watched it last night, found it merely 'ok' it lacked spark, it found myself meandering off.

A Beautiful day in the Neighbourhood, I'm a Tom Hanks fan, but even I struggled with this one, the wife enjoyed it, but I found it quite dreary
