Thirty three years late, I watched Prayer For The Dying for the first time. As a master class of splendid ham acting, it was outstanding. Great fun.
Alan Bates steals the show there, both sinister and camp at the same time, absolutely hilarious.

Really good, low key psychological horror. A slow burner that rewards your patience with a gruelling final third, and really intelligently directed as well.

Splinter (Netflix)

Above average low budget horror with some genuinely nasty bits of body horror. The characters are a little archetypey, but the film is well written, with a good eye for what's going to work and isn't in terms of the effects (opening scene aside, which I *nearly* switched over at).

I'm going to ask a sensible question for a not in the least bit sensible film, where does Jason Bourne get all his money from?

The Bourne films have just turned up on Netflix, and never having seen them before I decided to give them a go, how does he travel the world with no obvious source of income?

At least James Bond has sponsorship from HM government.

Anyway, tonight was the third one, before I watch the fourth is it just a case of the CIA trying to kill him all over again?

The fourth one is about a totally different character - Aaron Cross.

Doesn't he have stashes of money and fake passports and such in various banks and left luggage lockers here and there?

No Country for Old Men.
Ive seen it before but it gets better every time I watch it. I have come to terms with the ending too, which I didn’t like first time I watched it.

Saw 'Man on the Moon' with the excellent Jim Carrey, portraying the even more excellent Andy Kaufman in his quest to become the ultimate comedian. He may well have succeded.

I'm old enough to remember 'Taxi' back in the late '70s/early '80s and was almost mesmerised by Kaufman's character of Latka.

A great film, a classic film, IMO.

We watched Hidden Figures this week, not the type of film we’d normally watch but my brother in law suggested it and we thought it was brilliant as well.

Completely different to that was Zombieland, double tap, silly nonsense but.... very enjoyable!

Last one was The Gentleman with Hugh Grant. We’d watched it at the cinema and enjoyed it so caught it again on Amazon. Another good film and I thought Hugh Grant was fantastic. Far from his normal roles but Great acting.
