I'm not normally a horror fan but decided on The Conjuring a few nights ago.

A decent enough film, but based on a true story? I'm no believer in heaven and hell so find it very difficult to believe that anything close to that actually happened.

Last night was a cross between horror and war - Overlord.

A group of US Airborne troops are parachuted into France the night before D-day on a mission to knock out a nazi listening station.

When they get there they find it's also a laboratory attempting to make soldiers that can't be killed, a bit cack really, 4/10.

I watched Overlord last night as well - I rather liked it. It reminds me slightly of the wartime arcs in the Hellboy/B.P.R.D. universe.

Decent characters, and doesn't outstay its welcome.

I've also binged the Paranormal Activity series. The first was really innovative, but the rest are a bit of a case of diminishing returns, although they have their moments (the use of Kinect in 4, for example).

I finally got round to watching 51st State last night... and i reckon the high calibre cast won't be putting this sh!tfest on their favourite films list. It wasn't a disaster, just poorly directed and not a single convincing performance from anyone. The attempts at comedy were pitiful, the accents meandered, the dialogue was mostly direlogue... no wonder I'd been putting it off for twenty years. 3/10

I thought it was watchable nonsense and by no means that bad.

The Myth (Netflix)
A fantasy fairy story with Jackie Chan doing his usual mad action stuff.
Plot set in China but filmed in some interesting Indian landscapes.
Swords, arrows, horse riding, military costumes, lovely ladies, flying trapeze work and blood.
7/10 from us.

Jojo Rabbit - 9/10

Deep, full of heart, funny, intense. It's one helluva film. I only took a point off because I was mightily confused about where things were going for a few scenes before it all clicked into place. But when it did, man...

Taika Waititi is easily one of the best directors around.

Tusk - 9/10

A B-Movie with a budget. It's funny, dark, reflective and gruesome all at once. Bonkers mad, but I'm glad films like it exist.

I am Vengeance: Retaliation

An ex special forces guy is given the chance to wipe the slate clean by doing one last job, to go after the rogue agent (Vinnie Jones) who once killed his team members.

Plenty of fisticuffs, automatic weapons with magazines of infinite capacity, although for dramatic effect the good guys do sometimes find that their pistols are empty, macho dialogue and posturing that borders on making this a parody, and bucket loads of testosterone.

Treat it as a comedy and you can't go wrong if you just want a quick bit of mindless entertainment, it needs the @Drago verdict on the weapons drills though to complete the review.

5/10.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Sick, cringeworthy, shocking, and thar scene with Eudy Giuliani.

8/10.
I watched the first half on Saturday. Not bothered with the second half yet.

It is toe curlingly bad in places. How do they find these people and obtain their permission to use the footage?
