I've not read the book but the film is brilliant.

...

I can't recommend it highly enough, but it is very very different.

Not last night but I saw Joy as a Sky freebie last Tuesday at the cinema. If you like gentle British true stories, it's a good watch (although I'm not that keen on Bill Nighy as an actor). On Netflix from 22 Nov too

How was it? I've read the book and watched the original Swedish movie. Have they fully sanitised it? I don't understand why they had to change the name of the main character, what's wrong with Ove?

Not read book nor watched the original movie. I think Otto worked quite well though. Maybe it's more appealing to am English speaking audience.

After Watching Aliens (Extended Edition) for the umpteenth time I thought I'd watch Alien: Romulus and I wasn't dissapointed. Some may call it a legacy sequal but though does reference something from most of the main Aliens franchise films I never felt that way. I did feel the cast was too young though, I get that the story required a younger cast but sometimes it felt like "Five have an adventure in space" rather than an Alien film.

8/10.

A Russian supernatural folk tale from 1968 called Viy... I guess this is what they were watching when we were watching Hammer Horror. Certainly worth a look if you like vintage horror. It's on YouTube for free

Dogtrousers

Kilometre nibbler
Starve Acre.

Spooky folk horror that reminded me more of Midsomer Murders than The Wicker Man.

Meh

Edit. On second thoughts maybe not quite that bad. Maybe Vera, rather than Midsomer Murders.

A bit of a jolly hoot as they say.
Olivia Coleman camping it up as a mad nun, what more would you want from a movie 😆
Wholly enjoyable caper.

A friend has recommended this to me and I plan to watch it. I thought I’d better watch the first two and have to say that, having seen just the first one, I’m underwhelmed. Is the second one any better, or should I just skip to this one?

I loved the second one, a good old prison caper 😀. In fact, to be honest, I loved all three 😀
