Everything about this clip is Fantastic
Bolo Yeung does his thing with pecs
Van Damme recalls his training early in the movie and overcomes his blindness
Music is Grammy Nominated
The only reason why this scene is not the best in the history of the cinema is, shamefully, it does not end with a Van split

Does Van Damme's evil twin brother make an appearance?

If he did this would make this scene a piece of art equivalent of Mona Lisa, of the Ninth Symphony, of Hamlet
Granted, JCVD is such a great actor this is not even his best role
In his best role he played himself

Hard Target.

An early John Woo effort featuring Van Damme. Superlative acting straight oit of the Royal Shakespeare Company, witty dialogue delivered with gravitas and wry humour, and a body count that would embarass even John Rambo. By the end of the film Van Damme is down to his vest and flexing with the best of 'em. Worth watching for Arnold Vosloo - of who, I am an enormous fan - as the delightfully deranged sidekick of Lamce Henriksen's villain, although Henriksen himself wasn't trying very hard.

A modern classic.

7/×0.

Starship Troopers.
I never understand why the critics hated it so much when it was released. One of the most pointed critiques of how facist populists seduce and entrap their populations. And some fine looking hotties.
I can't speak for the critics - but the problem with that film is a fine critique/satire can easily turn into an over-the-top guns-aliens-n-tottie fest on screen. Surely you only need one scene where thousands of Johnny Foreigner swarm over the garrison, being effortlessly slaughtered by the "good guys"?

You have to admire the director's dedication to the vision though - he really went all in! I just think it was ill-conceived.

(I think Robocop worked a lot better.)

Part of the joy of Starship Troopers is that you can enjoy it naively as a bugs'nguns'ngirls slaughter fest.

That's probably not what the critics (or I) am particularly keen to watch.

Need to watch Robocop again soon, the re-make was ok but didn't match the original (toned down for a 12 rating).

Rio Bravo - 4/10

Unintentionally hilarious. I have no idea why it is held in such high regard. Nothing happens for two hours and the final shoot out scene is basically clay pigeon shooting. Absolute nonsense, but funny nonetheless.

That's the first John Wayne film I think I've watched. Fair play to him for making a living out of acting, because he can't.

Rambo 3.

No plot. The dialogue consisted of grunting a lot. The Mi24 Hinds were clearly Pumas with papier mashe adornments, and the weapons drills were appalling.

Thenoriginal First Blood was a well made, thought provoking film, but by turning the character into a cash cow the quality of the entertainments has nosedived.

0.5/10.

Butt Boy. It is very peculiar. It had a very small budget but the cast do the best they can with it and it's an intriguing idea. You'll either hate it, love it or find it interesting. Give it a try (we got it on Sky Movies).
