It is one of those finely crafted films, where you spot a new detail each time you see it, despite being knockabout fun and pure entertainment
The other two in the series are great too - Shaun of the Dead, and The World's End.

It's so funny how different people can have a different perspective. While an enjoyable film, I didn't think it was anywhere near a masterpiece. I think the thing that put me off the most was I felt like it couldn't make up its mind if it was going to be a serious movie or a dark humour movie, and ended up being neither -to its detriment -IMHO. Sorry but it's a solid 7/10 from me.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Almost didn't, because I saw it when it came out, which wasn't that long ago. So glad I did. A stonewall masterpiece. 10/10. Next time it's on I'll watch it again.

I don't think I said it was a comedy, but I thought it had some dark humour, though it's been a time since I saw it but that's what I remember. I seem to recall it was very serious initially but then halfway through took a turn to dark humour which I just didn't get nor thought was needed. Of course, your opinion may vary! (and thank goodness we don't all see things the same, then that would be boring).

FYI I couldn't remember if I did a review on this thread, but just so you know I'm not alone(!): , https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/what-film-did-you-watch-last-night.110206/page-525#post-5102824 I think someone else saw some dark humour in it as well.

Seriously? The entire movie is driven by what's on billboard #1, and you think it's not sure whether it's a comedy?

A bit late to the game: "1917". I missed it at the cinemas but got the blu-ray. I'd actually read mixed reviews about it, and to be truthful, I wasn't expecting much. I'd heard about the whole one shot deal thing, but that didn't necessarily appeal to me as I have to question whether it is even really needed. I wonder if it was done because... well.... it could be appear to be done and not because it was required artistically or to tell or improve the story. But I digress.....

I really quite enjoyed it. It kept my interest with the characters, the acting, the storyline, the cinematography (not actually referring to the "one shot" here btw). I give it a 9/10. It's always nice to be surprized!

I've treated myself recently, watched IP Man 1 2 3 and 4 again.

Some stunning martial arts on display and Donnie Yen basically IS IP Man!.

My wife hates all of them for some strange reason, no accounting for taste!.

Finished off with JCVD in Bloodsport, used to be one of my favourites back in the day.

Bloodsport vs Kickboxer
Two masterpieces but which one is "The" Van Damme movie?
Chong Li vs Tong Po

Karate vs Muay Thai
What is known for sure martial arts cinema never again reached lofty heights of these two movies
As far as I am concerned, despite having a particular weakness for JCVD dancing

Bloodsport is a superior movie thanks to its final fight scene

And its positive social commentary of multiculturalism, championing of minorities and strong critique of American Imperialism

Did like Kickboxer but as you say Bloodsport was THE JCVD movie.

Watched The Crow as well recently (Brandon Lee), very sad end to that one in real life..

Sorry, but absolutely everything about this clip is absolutely shite.
Everything about this clip is Fantastic
Bolo Yeung does his thing with pecs
Van Damme recalls his training early in the movie and overcomes his blindness
Music is Grammy Nominated
The only reason why this scene is not the best in the history of the cinema is, shamefully, it does not end with a Van split
