The Color of Money - Paul Newman and Tom Cruise as the has-been & hot young turk of the pool circuits in America. Paul Newman is great, and young Mr Cruise undeniably impressive. Both have great screen presence, and they spark off each other effectively. A very different - and quite foreign - world very convincingly portrayed. Not great, but pretty damn good.

Murder on the Orient Express (2017)

I have mixed feelings about this film. I am a huge fan of the works of Agatha Christie. I have read every Hercule Poirot story and seen the TV and film adaptations. I had to give this one a whirl. I accepted from the start that, like all films, it wouldn’t be accurate to the book.

There were a few minor changes to the story and characters, but essentially everything was there and worked well. The actors did a good job. You’d expect so for an ‘all-star’ cast, but that doesn’t always guarantee success. I enjoyed the film. The back story and themes of the film were faithful to the source material.

My main gripes were with the depiction of Hercule Poirot. Firstly, the moustache. It is terrible. And Poirot would never have that weird soul patch thing that Brannagh’s sporting. Secondly, Poirot’s actions. Poirot would never walk across the roof of a train carriage. It’s too high, too physical and something for much younger men. The same for physical struggles. Distasteful.

In terms of Poirot’s numerous idiosyncrasies, they did include an example or two. Most notably, his two boiled eggs being exactly the same size. Unfortunately, that scene seemed to be a separate, added extra rather than an integral part of the story. An idiosyncrasy for an idiosyncrasy’s sake.

Over all, it was an enjoyable film. Just not for the Poirot purist. David Suchet is still the best ever Poirot. No contest.

Are you serious? It was probably the worst film I've seen in the last 5 years. Boring, unfunny and offensive (not in a good way). No redeeming features whatsoever. 0/10

Don't bother

You clearly don't share my childish sense of humour.
I didn't find it offensive at all. But I giggle when I say cockermouth.

I watched Baywatch the movie last night and laughed my socks off. I'm going to say you won't enjoy that either, but I give it 8/10. The film its self was probably a 6, but I do love the rock and Zac Efron took his shirt off!

The Cloverfield Paradox.
Bearing in mind I didn't even know this was part of a trilogy...it was good, ok, watchable, but unsurprisingly left me with several things I couldn' work out but knowing now its part of a trilogy, perhaps if id watched them all it might have made sense, where im guessing the attempt to use the particle accelerator to save the planet...actually warps reality/time/space and creates something worse...as seen in the closing scene.

Taken on its own, I enjoyed it nevertheless.

I'm not surprised it didn't make sense. Like 10 Cloverfield Lane the link was a battered in afterthought. I quite liked Cloverfield, but this attempt at a franchise is pretty daft IMO.

Se7en. Very unpleasant. Very good. Somewhat compromised by having seen it before - that's one payoff you don't forget - but the sinister, edgy, Silence of the Lambs vibe is maintained at a pitch that keeps you squirming from start to finish.

A brilliant film. They managed to get a sense of pure evil without explicitly showing acts of violence. Extraordinarily disturbing.

Se7en is probably my favourite of all David Fincher's films, which are almost all brilliant.

Geek trivia: Kevin Spacey isn't flagged in the opening credits or promotional material. His name was left out because audiences would be waiting for him to show up and it would ruin the surprise.

Terminator Genisys.

Didn't break new ground in special effects but twisted the previous storylines (you can do what you like when time travel is involved) quite nicely.

Neatly done execution of new Arnie and old Arnie scenes.

Easy, fun watch.

6/10.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri .Thought it was brilliant, great cast and performances.Somehow I feel guilty saying I enjoyed it,as found it sad.

Yeah but ...
There was a shift in the film's mood when the narrative changed from angry woman seeking justice in a fight against a hostile establishment to angry policeman seeking redemption and revenge. The pre-narrative-switch half was good, but it was deflated be a very tired and blunt ending. IMHO

Good movie so far but didn't get round to watching it all.

The Post
Adequately portrayed the message it needed to. Not a fan of Meryll Streep though. Wouldn't watch it if something else was on.

Safe House
What a pile of junk. Doesn't warrant any more coverage.

A Walk in the Woods
Moderately pleasant movie to have on in the background without having to pay attention to what's going on. How did Robert Redford get so popular?

My Blue Heaven
What a stupid sh2t film. Seemed better when first watched as a kid (though not by much) but I have no time to waste these days.

Janapar love on a bike
Could have been so much better if there wasn't that silly sad creepy music. I watch movies to feel good and this was the opposite. Quite sad when considering its a bike movie. Another loser goes on a world trip.

Tour de Pharmacy
What a f###### waste of time. But I only watched 10 minutes before switching off. I'll put it in in the background some time in the future and re-evaluate .

Exit Wounds
Couple of good fight scenes, some.mild humour, generally low rent movie but kinda fun if you can't think of anything else to watch.

Kick Boxer
Nostalgia. How can you not like it (otherwise generally rubbish).

Cafe Society
Wonderful film so far. Haven't finished it yet. Beautiful colour and framing .I should make more time to watch Woody Allen movies.
