Army of Darkness - 8/10

Watched because I've just finished Ash vs. Evil Dead. I'd forgotten how camp and ridiculous it is, and how many nods to other films are in there, most notably the army of skeletons which are straight out of Jason and the Argonauts (which I love).

Jason and the Argonauts, and Clash of the Titans are classics. Absolutely brilliant!

Clarification - I’m talking about the Ray Harryhausen films, not any remakes/reboots/rehashes.

No we're not. We were both talking about darkman - I was just surpised I'd forgotten that Jenny Agutter was in Darkman. Usually I remember such things.

She only has a brief part, perhaps not even a minute. She's the one explaining to the student Doctor type medical people about Liam Neesons injuries.

"Mr Holmes" McKellern plays an ageing, frail Holmes trying to remember some old cases. McK is outstanding, and with a fine supporting cast It looks lovely, but does rather lack something sadly, was a bit too mawkish and was mildy disapointing in the end, but worth watching all the same.

I am Wrath.

I really couldn't say if its good or bad, because John Travolta's wig is so bad old Brucie would have been embarassed to wear it and I couldn't tear my eyes from his hair line.

The Eye of the Needle - 1981

Donald Sutherland is a Nazi spy (The Eagle has Landed?) who has a fling with a woman who looks a bit like Jenny Agutter, (that's the end of the T.E.H.L. references) who is trying to get a message about D day back to Adolf.

Nothing outstanding, but if you're skimming through Netflix, and are stuck for something to watch, give it a go.

6/10.

Drive Angry.

Nicholas Cage wearing a straggly wig, talking slowly in a low voice and slapping people around. He's being pursued by an assistant of the Devil, who kills a lot of people.

Sound like tripe? It is, but its entertaining enough.
