Brendan Gleeson...again ^_^

Travellers, an overbearing father who believes only in traveller tradition, his son who wants better for his kids but who has as poor a regard for the law as any and their family.... who rob the wrong people...

Fast driving, filthy language, utterly filthy. Brilliant film, wife enjoyed it too...not for the easily offended.

Assassin's Creed - which in keeping with @gbb 's fan fest above also features Brendan Gleeson (briefly). ^_^

Wasn't expecting much and in that respect wasn't disappointed.
Confusing plot, such as there was one, and surprisingly ropey CGI at times. I can only assume that Michael Fassbinder got a shedload of dollars for starring. Still, it beat watching Avengers: Age Of Ultron again. 4/10.

Dunkirk (2017) Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance war film, well this a very much anticipated film and well I was slightly disappointed, first the strange chronology, at times it made little sense and although parts of the film were excellent overall it was an okish war film, I don't or didn't get why it was lauded so highly.....6.5/10
Saw Dunkirk a couple of nights ago and have to disagree. I would give it 10 out of 10 if they took out the annoying Harry Stiles scenes. Tom Hardy in the Spitfire is one of the coolest things you will ever see. Best warfilm since private ryan for me.

sorry but no where near saving private ryan, although some of the spitfire scenes are some of the best in the film, its just not that great a film.
It' a very personal thing of course but I agree, Dunkirk was a good film, striking cinematics or CGI, but the storyline at times was stretched beyond the limit and that spoiled it for me.

Bear in mind Grant Fondo said it was the best film SINCE Saving Private Ryan....maybe it is.

Saving Private Ryan was and always will be one of THE best war films ever made.(imho of course)

and still killing, and there were a fair few scenes that didn't make sense throughout the film..

I've seen it twice and it makes much better sense the second time round as you realise it's not straight chronological. That's why you have 1 week, 1 day, 1 hour before each of the major sections. 1 week for the soldiers, 1 hour for the spitfires, 1 day for navy or small boats (I think, it's late and so can't remember how they lined up exactly)

Didn't make sense first time to me either, but second time round was much better

Assassin’s Creed has three beginnings instead of the usual one. It’s like listening to a record where the needle keeps jumping. The scenes set in the past looked pretty good though. And who doesn’t like rooftop acrobatics?

watched a Japanese movie called 'Blade Of The Immortal' that is based off a Japanese manga comic.
Its a pretty well done adaptation compared to a lot of anime/manga to movie adaptations. One of the main 'saving grace's' of this movie is its not a Hollywood movie so there was no hirings of whit Caucasians to take the roles of characters of color of of Asian ethnicity (Something Hollywood loves to do)

If you like samurai movies -- something like Zatoichi mixed with a slight hint of fantasy and mysticism then this is a movie for you. Having read the manga myself Id say the movie feels ever so slightly short but its well done.

War For The Planet Of The Apes.

I've enjoyed all of the rebooted film series, but this was the best yet. The CGI has really come of age, the plot was edgy, and Woody Harrelson is the master when it comes to playing unhinged loons with a fanatical gleam in their eye.

It also sets up the character of Cornelius, and with the brief mention of the missing Mars mission in then first film I wonder if were due soon for a reboot of the original Charlton Heston plot.

Great stuff, 8.5/10.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
On a cold, wet, dark, miserable News Years day, 'kong, Skull Island quite' nice way to while away some time. 7/10'
