Spy - 6/10

Daft action comedy with an incredible cast who are clearly having a blast to be doing something silly. Jason Statham steals the show, ripping the pish out of the outlandish characters he has played.

Switch your brain off and enjoy.

He was 6'5".

David Morse who played Brutus was 6'4", yet despite being only 1" taller Michael Clarke Duncan towered over Morse in the film by a head. Therefore, Morse was stood in a hole (unlikely, as Morse still dwarfed Hanks), or MCD was stood on a box. I know we're supposed to suspend disbelief, but its so comically obvious it ruins an otherwise very cleverly written and acted film.

David Morse (right) 6'4", Michael Clarke Duncan (middle) 6'5". That's one hell of an inch.

Its a shame the box didn't even get listed in the credits.

Well yeah, but Coffey is 7 foot in the book, so it makes sense.

The Lego Batman Movie

I didn't enjoy it as much as the original Lego Movie - this seemed to be all Batman and no Lego, a weak story and only a few laughs. However, mentioned this to some friends earlier, and apparently I'm completely wrong, so don't let me put you off.
I will admit to being a bit of a bat fanboy , i enjoyed that film as it took the pish out of him and his whole persona/ legend.Currently watching batman vs superman , 1st time i have watched it since it came out at the cinema.

Parker.

Not The Stafe's finest hour. Wooden acting by even his standards, a dreadful fake American accent, and zero plot. It staggers from one violent set piece to another, linked by quiet periods that amplify Stathams lack of acting ability.

3/10.

*****

The Other Guys.

A pith take buddy cop movie starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. The opening 20 minutes with Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson playing over the top cop partners is very funny. Their death is even funnier, giving the opportunity for desk detectives Ferrell and Wahlberg to take their place as the departments top cops.

I'm not a fan of Wahlberg anyway, and he seems particularly uncomfortable and self conscious when doing comedy. Fortunately, Ferrell carries him well. Funny script, excellent support from Michael Keaton as the police captain.

As this sort of film goes its OK. Not quote forgettable, not quite brilliant. Worth watching justmfor the first 20 minutes.

5.5/10.

According to IMDB this was also called Raiders in the Sky.

Drama about a WWII bomber squadron with a bit of romance between Dirk Bogarde and Dinah Sheridan.

Well worth a watch, 8/10.

It was supposed to be Mad Max meets Star Wars

It was more like Max Wall meets Freddie Starr

Plot was thin at best, with lots of unnecessary flash backs.

Even if you are a die-hard Sci-Fi fan - Don't bother

AKA Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child, which must be up there as one of the worst film titles ever.
