Your Friends & Neighbours. I watched this because it had Amy Brenneman in. I wish I hadn’t. Endless talk about their sex lives. Implausible affairs that go nowhere. 2/10.

Finally struggled through Battlefield Earth.

As one of the kinder original reviews put it

“A million monkeys with a million crayons would be hard-pressed in a million years to create anything as cretinous as Battlefield Earth

That's one that i've been meaning to watch... but like sitting through the camptastic Plan 9 from Outer Space, i fear it will be a mostly tiresome endeavour.

Nope, don't remember it. But what on earth were they thinking?
It was based on a book written by the schlocky SF writer L. Ron Hubbard, whose most famous work of fiction is The Church of Scientology, of which Travolta is a senior member.

It's the same as Mel Gibson (Catholic) making The Passion of the Christ.

.... sort of.

Watched Reclaim last week, dreadful turgid tosh, it's only redeeming feature was John Cossack who as always was excellent but even he couldn't pull this one away from being a big pile of dung.

Aliens, The Directors Cut.

Very brave of James Cameron to progress the story from the horror to the action genre, but he does so with aplomb. The scene near the end where Ripley fights the alien with the loader is class.

8/10.

On The Waterfront. Complete with 'I coulda been a contender'. Fascinating portrayal of a fundamentally different world - feels as ancient as Rome or the Tudors, tho' it's little more than 60 years old. Great cinematography, direction and music - by Leonard Bernstein - but the standout, without a doubt, is the young Brando. What a performance. More than just a great actor; he's a force of nature. Superb.

We watched Moana at child 5 and 6's insistence. I was fully expecting to have a nice little nap, but it was strangely good. I really enjoyed it.
Definitely reccomend as a family film 8/10
