Righteous Kill - 4/10

I remember a lot of hype around this as De Niro and Pacino being reunited for the first time since Heat. As you'd expect they perform admirably but are badly let down by a shonky script and a dismal supporting cast.

Not a total disaster, but it's only worth watching for them.

I just watched Mad Max, the original one. It's over 35 years since I first saw it and I have to say it's aged badly. Some bits are still good but not as good as I remember them as an 11 year old.

Now half way through the Last Knights. Not sure yet.

My favourite bit when rewatching MM1 for the first time since then was yelling.... IT'S LIZZIE BIRDSWORTH! :hyper:

It also has a couple of amazing stunts towards the end.

Really? Gosh. Who'da thunk it?
Hey its hard going back. I thought the bit where the guy's hand is torn off was about 10 mins into the film rather than about an hour. Plus now I'm in my 40s,watching a very young Mel Gibson say "the chain between those cuffs is high tensile steel. You can probably hack through it in 10 mins, you could cut through your ankle in 5" is laughable rather than threatening and cool.

Oh and the Last Knights is cack

A Hijacking

Danish film about the hijacking of a ship by Somali pirates. Told from the point of view of the crew (particularly the cook and engineer) and the negotiating team. Harrowing, in a psychological way, and very good indeed. Sadly it disappears from Netflix on the 27th, so if you have an hour and a bit spare, watch it.

I remember watching my very first pirate video... it felt so wrong, so right... having something so illegal in the house and my parents knew about it... that most exciting of counterfeit videos was Mad Max 2; the picture scattered rolled every few seconds and it would have been unwatchable if it wasn't so exciting. My recent rewatch of MM2 had me hankering for the shoddy pirate video... I still enjoyed it, but not as much as when i was half expecting the video-cops to break the front door down at any second.
