Tonight, not last night;Delicatessen, funny French film about a post apocalyptic France based in the aforementioned Delicatessen attached to rented apartments run by a butcher were a string of handymen (and residents) have met their end becoming tea for the favoured residents. Also involves a former clown, vegetarian underground resistance, saw playing,a squeaking bed, lentils and a gun toting postie.

There's another couple of equally excellent films by the same ensemble cast and director: City of Lost Children, and the slightly more straightforward Mic Macs.

(post now in right place, as my first attempt replied to a Mad Max comment, and hence would have made no sense at all)

The Night Manager on iplayer. The villains were laughable cartoon caricatures, but it was quite fun. I had a terrible suspicion that the Egyptian mistress wasn't going to make it past the first episode, rather like the Russian wife in an earlier LeCarre offering who befriended Ricki Tarr in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Excellent film :okay:

...as are all his others; Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, City of Lost Children, Micmacs and Alien Resurrection (being the least good, and possibly even a bit crap)... and there's one which passed me by... The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet. Must find that... looks good.

If you like this sort of thing, I can also recommend The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc Sec... it's by Luc Besson... but Besson definitely put his Junet hat on for this film.

Philomena.

Wonderful portrayal by Judi and for once Coogan was good (he's so rubbish with his "funny" stuff).

Swedish film, on iplayer.
I first watched this series a few month ago as again was on iplayer. I was reasonably impressed, as so iplayer decided to upload the other two.
the scoring maybe slightly high though the dark, gritty shots was great camera work, I like the darkness to films. It does get cheesy as in over the top Hollywood shootouts but watching the films still great great viewing pleasure to me.
The story needs to be watched from the 1st to the rd.
