Wife & daughter watched 'Shallow Hal'... because it was on

I was down in basement, watching 'Star Trek:biggrin:eep Space 9'

Jean Claude Van Damme succumbs to the charms of a young lady whilst on a night out in Manila.

When he wakes up next day he finds he's missing a kidney.

As you'd expect he's not very happy about it and sets off to get it back, cue lots of action and a slushy ending.

A bit low budget, 5/10.

Event Horizon - a sci fi horror. Well filmed and looked great and the middle grade cast did pretty well with lame material but ultimately rather poor overall. I did watch it to the end but nearly gave up. A stretched out version of a twilight zone episode without the latter's panache nor the magic and mystery of Solaris which it also apes.

Being generous I give it 4/10.
Event Horizon was one that If remade, could be awesome. I loved the original ...back then, but it doesnt really stand the test of time, it is a bit woody by todays standards

We have a free 2 week subscription to sky movies, via NowTV. Getting our money's worth.
Jersey Boys
The Grand Budapest Hotel
City Heat
Ocean's Eleven (original 1960 film)
The Art of the Steal
American Hustle
The Edge of Tomorrow (watching Cruise die, a lot, is a good way to spend an evening)

It's going to be a busy fortnight of film watching I reckon. We have the weather for it.

@fossyant Becoming part of this thread, or reading it at least will help with the what to watch boredom issues! BTDT... GWS

I'm keeping an eye on here for when allowed home. Not looking soon though. Struggling to get any good 3g or 4G signals in here. Even had my wifi box hanging of a saline carrier frame to get a reception for five live boxing.

No TV there? When I was in for 8 days, we had a TV - had to pay to use it except for the free hour from 2 - 3 every afternoon. That was 7 years ago, I'd have thought that hospitals would have got a bit more up to date by now.

A remake of Event Horizon would be awful and unnecessary. Unlikely too, given how under-appreciated it is. But then I've heard rumours of a Wishmaster remake so I suppose anything is possible...

I watched the second bit of Hunger Games yesterday - 5/10

I really liked the first film, the second was stupidly paced and there's really no reason why the third needed to be two films. I suppose it's not as bad as turning The Hobbit into a ludicrous 9 hour misery-fest but it's pretty close.

My Dad was driven out of hospital by the incessant inane drivel coming from a neighbour's (paid for) tv. The hospital no doubt imagined they were coining it from the telly suppliers...shame my Dad's early departure soon led directly to the need for a readmission, with additional surgery, which probably cost more money than the hospital 'made' all year. Never mind the effect on patients' 'quality of care'. Just one more piece of great joined-up thinking from our new market-led customer-responsive financially-innovative public services....
