Derby.
A Most Wanted Man. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and based on a book by John Le Carré, it's a slow-burning, espionage thriller. It rewards a patient viewer with a rich montage of the city of Hamburg.

Zombibi - 5/10

A standard low budget zombie city survival story, elevated from poor by some excellent effects and genuinely funny moments, as well as love story twist.

It's basically a Dutch Sean of the Dead without the cleverness.

Confusingly some scenes were set up almost as video games but there wasn't really an explanation why. I suspect the version I watched on the horror channel was cut a bit, and poorly.

Event Horizon - a sci fi horror. Well filmed and looked great and the middle grade cast did pretty well with lame material but ultimately rather poor overall. I did watch it to the end but nearly gave up. A stretched out version of a twilight zone episode without the latter's panache nor the magic and mystery of Solaris which it also apes.

Being generous I give it 4/10.

Inbred - 7/10

Low budget British horror with a wickedly black sense of humour, this is a stereotypical story of a trip gone wrong and a misunderstanding with the locals leading to impressively bloody carnage.

I've not said 'F*ck me that's disgusting' for a long time at a horror film but one of the death scenes in this... Jesus wept...

If you've seen it you'll know. If you've not I recommend you check this out.

I've just given up on Deadheads.

Veers wildly from being brilliant to utter shite almost scene by scene, swapping between witty pastiche and road trip jokes with no middle ground.

Bit of a shame really as the premise of coherent zombies is an interesting one and I can't see this going anywhere good.

Transporter 3. Would've preferred 1 or 2. Crank would've been perfect though.

There's a recent one where The Stath is Joey, an alcoholic who strikes up a relationship with a nun STOP LAUGHING.

It's not bad, you can tell he's an alcoholic cos the acting's the same but he's clutching a vodka bottle. Sample dialogue:

Joey: Sister, I'm Catholic.

Cristina: I'm not your sister. I'm drunk, and I'm up against the wall.

The Long Kiss Goodnight. Love that film. Chefs do that, right
Currently curled up with a cuppa and Field of Dreams. One of my faves.

Agree with both recommendations. One is a standard spy movie, yet has enough brilliant moments to transcend the genre, not least the knife incident you mention. Geena Davis is great in the lead role, and apart from having ninja warrior skills acts like a normal woman, and doesn't look like a Bond girl. And Samuel L Jackson not playing the tough guy for a change. Great stuff !

Field of dreams - sentimental tosh of course, yet has a magic about it and brings a tear to my eye despite not being in the slightest interested in rounders.
