Fargo. The Coens on top of their game...it doesn't get much topper.

Ex_machina: I'll politely say it had some intriguing parts but otherwise I'd recommend giving this a rather wide miss.

Pirates of silicon valley: it was OK because I pretty much knew what to expect. Give this a miss too.

Ian McKellan is truely a national treasure. The film is beautifully shot and there is some fine knitwear in it.
Well worth a visit to the big screen.

Never did like DiCaprio, dont know why...just can't take to him.
The wife and I havmt been too well this weekend so this afyernoon, wacthed the above.
Wife got bored and called it stupid... I drifted off, woke up at what seemed an interesting part, then it got stupid and I gave up on it.
Put me in mind of Lord of the Flies.
But it was crap.

It delivers, and has some good scenes, but don't set your expectations too high.
The characters prove the idiom that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I want to watch it again, but on first viewing, a lovely, thoughtful, melancholy little film.

(And not the Liverpudlian version of the famous nudie musical, as I first thought).

Terminator Genisys. I rather enjoyed it. I very nearly blubbed when Pops the Terminator is about to die and he says to Kyle Reece, "Look after my Sarah for me."

Touching The Void (2003). Documentary film about two guys climbing the west face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes. Absolutely gripping and really well acted I thought. Thoroughly enjoyed it, 9/10

Joe's book is quite simply amazing. What he went through and getting back on his feet again (so to speak) was staggering.

Agreed, I bought it for my wife for some occasion and as we happened to both be off work that day (may have been a weekend) we just sat together and I read it to her cover to cover. Stunning book. Haven't seen the film (a bit worried that it's just not possible to do it justice) despite owning it on DVD.

watch it. It stands well in its own right and adds to some of the pain that Simon experienced as well when he had to make the fateful decision to save at least one of them and cut the rope.
It is one of the few films that I feel stands well with the book.
