One of the 64K
Big Hero 6 very clever Disney take on anime. Good mix of characters and a reasonable story. Time well spent and probably a future DVD buy.

Not last night but our new years eve entertainment this year was an Almodovar double bill of Talk to Her and Volver;both slightly wrong but in a good way(Talk to Her is by far the 'wronger') but excellent films none the less and Volver does have the advantage of Penelope Cruz in full cleavage mode:wub::blush:(she is a good actress too ).

Or the taking of Pelham 123 (1974) is remade as Die hard 3 which then is remade as as the taking of Pelham 123

No wonder the thing I watched was such a disastrous effort then. I'll have to watch the original, thanks for the heads up.

Casa RM is still recovering from the last bit of The Hobbit. Visually it's stunning, but the lack of plot is clear. The daft elf/dwarf love story that's been battered for no reason finally ended which I suppose was a blessing.

Mrs RM summed it up best when I asked her what she thought.

The Taking of Pelham 123

3/10

All that needs to be said is that this basically is a really shitey remake of Die Hard 3.

Avoid.

I thought it was a shitty remake of The Taking of Pelham 123?

Edit: oops, already said.

Books plot simply not enough for three movies, regardless of what the industry thinks.A good box office, could have been great with tighter editing. Just my opinion.

The remake is, as other have pointed out, bollocks. And Travolta bollocks at that.

The original is a nice, tight thriller, with Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau, and a bloody fantastic David Shire score.

Anyhoo, I watched "End of Watch" - decent first two thirds, barmy over the top last third, as though the writing team was doing some sort of filmic game of exquisite corpse.

I watched Man of Steel, a somewhat darker and more violent remake of the Superman film where the three "baddies" from Krypton caused mayhem. I actually preferred the original.

Breaking Away (1979) Like a trip in a time machine, that period of the past looks quainter and quainter each time I see it. An everyman kid goes cycling, and learns a great deal about himself in the process.
