The 1935 version of The Thirty Nine Steps.

A spiffing tale of dastardly foreign spies thwarted by Robert Doughnut and his magnificent moustache.

Courtesy Gaumont-British. I should have thought the autogyro would have made the poster, as well as The Flying Scotsman. A ripping yarn.

The Help.
An aspiring author returns home to Jackson, Mississippi after her graduation.
She writes a book, with contributions from all the local African American maids about their daily lives, looking after the towns white "ladies" and their families. Great film.

I know it sounds snotty and up-one's-own-bum, but good as the film is - and it is - the book really is something special. It came to me highly recommended, and I wasn't disappointed.

+1 for the book. But like Mrs M I watched the film last night and enjoyed that too.

Just watched The Amazing Spider Man 2 - thought it was going to be awful and actually wasn't too bad...didn't have to think much though but that was kind of what I was after

The Innkeepers - a decent chiler - I suspect I'd have been more into it had the sound on my recording not stuttered constantly throughout (some kind of fault on the aerial while the PVR was recording, I guess).

I'll try and catch it again next time it's on.
