I enjoyed Chronicle... far far better than a lot of recent super hero films

After @AndyRM 's recommendation, I got around to REC 3.

I liked it - it benefits from a degree of removal from the original, the "Sponge John" joke got me every time, and the change of tone works for me, even with the shift in tone away from the rest of the film towards the end. The original is still head and shoulders above the rest of the (so far) trilogy, but this is well worth a watch, I reckon.

"The Man". Samuel L Jackson does comedy. Quite a lot of toilety humour. Go to the toilet before you watch it, or you might wet yourself laughing.
One of my favourite films.

Just in from Interstellar and Horns.

Interstellar

9/10

The best sci if film I've watched in years. Head and shoulders above Gravity and Prometheus, which are the last two I've seen at the cinema. The 'twist' is neatly done and doesn't deflect your mind from a touching, involving film which is more about humanity than blowing stuff up. Despite the kids rating, it's a very adult film and I suspect most of the under 10s were left mightily confused.

Horns

7/10

A sort of modern day fairy love story. Bit of a mind bender and some liberties have been taken with plot development but it's still very worth watching. I'm starting to feel like Daniel Radcliffe is doing as much mad stuff to distance himself from the Harry Potter role, which is no bad thing.

I enjoyed it but it is NOT a feel good type movie. Not really sure why I liked it, maybe because I like cowboy and frontier type movies. It has some harsh scenes and big direction changes that I sure didn't see coming. It was a little confusing to me but that may have been part of the plan. It held my attention for the duration of the movie, something rare for me and movies these days. It also had me thinking about it during and after the movie. It may not be for everyone but one of the better movies I have seen in a while.

Rec 4 will be here in the new year.

I watched Rec yesterday... not sure I followed the film too much because I was trying my hardest to understand the Spanish but there didn't seem to be much of a plot ... so will have to watch it again (and hope I can read fast enough), but they did seem to scream a lot! is Rec 2 worth getting?

Next on the line up are Pan's Labyrinth and In My father's Den.

Zombieland, pretty funny as a send up of the genre.

I love Zombieland. It's brilliant. The plot, script, acting. All top-notch.

I saw most of The Life Aquatic, which was pretty good. Will finish it tonight.
I like Wes Anderson films. They never seems like they ought to work, but they just do.

Rec 2 is much the same as Rec, only not as good.

Rec 3 is a total departure from the location and feeling of 1 & 2, but still very entertaining.

Rec 4 picks up where 2 left off, totally ignoring 3. Of the 3 darker efforts, it's the weakest, but still better than most American horror stuff I've seen lately.

Just watched In My Father's Den.

Have ordered rec 2 & 3 plus battlestar gallactica season 4 pt 1 & 2, plus a couple of others that are in the Amazon 4 for £10 offer which gives me free delivery and somehow also qualified for my NUS discount as well.... Toys cheaper to buy them than go over my broadband data allowance.... :whistles: we are already close to that this month so whilst I have stuff recorded downstairs, it's downstairs and I'm not and I still can't sit upright as in sofa upright and the bedroom is just not am option for TV and BT box sadly... (actually I don't like tvs in the bedroom but currently out might have been useful!)
