Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Last night I watched Operation Secret. A 1952 film about a unit of french soldiers during the second world war who discover there is a traitor among them.

The odd thing about the film was that it was an american film, with all american actors, about a french army unit. Unusual in that Americans didn't usually make world war 2 films based on another country. Its usually all about Americans who win the war single handedly with a bit of help from the allies.

It was based on a true story, and once I got used to all the americans, it wasn't a bad film. Karl Maldon playing a french army major was a challenge though I must admit.

A huge departure from the serious tone of the first two, but doesn't suffer much for that. It's daft, camp, gory and hilarious. I'm not sure if it was the directors intention, but for me it played as a homage to Evil Dead and Dusk til Dawn. Well worth watching, provided you don't mind subtitles/understand Spanish.

I have that somewhere on the DVR. The original [REC] is one of my all time favourites - completely relentless, breathless horror - I have to say, I felt a bit let down by the second.

No. It sounds too stupid for even me to watch....
I've suffered so you don't have to.

I watched the first ten minutes hoping it would get better, but after a quarter of an hour I knew there was no chance.

On the plus side, if you've ever wanted to see a foxy redhead in a leopardskin swimsuit wrestle an alligator underwater you were in for a treat.

The IMDB rating of 2.1/10 can be considered a bit generous though.

When the Lights Went Out.A Brit ghost story set in the 70`s.Quite a good flic but the best thing about this movie is the 70`s setting. You really do believe it was made back then and not a modern tale.Horrible wallpaper,Morris Minor`s,Buckaroo, smoking in pubs its all there.Worth watching alone for the nostalgia trip.

The first Rec is a bona fide masterpiece. Easily the best 'found footage' horror going I reckon. I agree that the second doesn't quite live up to it, but how do you follow something so good? It's a trick only The Godfather trilogy managed, with a nod to Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

I think that those responsible for Rec 3 realised this and decided to be totally different. It's nowhere near as refined or brutal, and sits more with films like Final Destination in terms of inventive deaths. It's on the fun side of horror, rather than the disturbing.

You might also like Paths of Glory, Cross of Iron, and All Quiet on the Western Front(1930).(well, actually, Paths of Glory and All Quiet on the Western Front were WWi films, but really good ones.)

Huh?! :headshake: That's like having Sean Connery playing a Russian submarine captain... oh, wait a sec...

Rush. A remarkably good film brilliantly directed by Ron Howard. Edge of the seat excitement and the two stars Daniel Bhrül as Nicky Lauder and Chis Hemsworth as James Hunt are brilliant in it. I'm not into Formula 1 or car racing in general but this movie about the rivalry between Hunt & Lauder made it fascinating. 10/10
