Ive just read the last 4/5 pages with a huge smile and a giggle.........as i only live 3 miles from the top of the tumble and ride some of the route as my commute ride, don't under estimate the climbing on the rolling terrain prior to even getting to the tumble, cause if the wind is up, your riding into it all day long.......and this morning it was gusting at around 20mph

I'm not trying to scare monger here, i'm just giving you guys some local advice.........enjoy


Are you riding it?... Might try and find someone like you on the day with local knowledge....

No im not........i ride those roads to often for free

I'm staying at a mate's house about 15 miles away.
I'm debating whether to drive in on the day, or leave the car at his and cycle in.

If I cycle I won't have any parking bother, but it's an extra 30 miles of cycling.
If I drive, I'm worried I won't be able to find anywhere to park.
There are a few car parks on Cowbridge Road East, but I have no idea how quickly they are likely to fill up.

There is something about parking being provided by Velothon Wales in the guide so it may be worth looking at that.

I was speaking to a woman today who is doing it though worried that she is going to be cutting it fine getting round in time! Good luck to all those entering!

At the moment I have a bit of a dilemma as I have a deadline for an assignment the Tuesday afterwards. So I have the following options:

1) Trade off training to get the assignment done earlier so that I can go.
2) Train but then don't go because I need the weekend to finish the assignment.

At the moment I have been doing 1 but I know that will land me in a world of pain probably. I did do 100k two weeks ago though.

I'd say get your assignment done early & go & enjoy the day. You're not going to lose much fitness in a week & the rest may even do you good.

I think you may be over estimating the amount of training I have done leading up to now :whistle:

I think I said somewhere that when I did 100k a couple of weeks ago, I could have kept going for another 40k and I averaged 23kp/h taking it easy so I know the distance isn't a problem. The worry has and still is, the amount of climbing as Surrey is rather flat compared to Wales!

But what is a challenge if it isn't challenging :okay:

Also found out in the week that the hotel I'm staying in, is pretty much next to the prison :laugh: Wonder if I can get up to no good and get a free night on Her Majesty :laugh: I'd have to phone ahead though and make sure you are allowed bikes in the room ^_^

1, as you should be tapering off this week anyway.
