Just taking wife to cinema to break the bad news, I'll be out on my bike for most of 2018

I suspect she'll look at it as good news:laugh:

3h 14 for 83 miles:ohmy:
I stopped doing those longish sportives, but my last one was very similar: https://www.strava.com/activities/22991162

Fwiw, I think I'm am stronger now...well maybe not this summer, but I have now had a long period without illness and injury.

Been lurking this thread, but my eyes are on the Chrono event. Also been looking at the TT gran fondo in Rhodes, but the problem in both cases is getting a TT bike to actually ride on. A bike case is really expensive, and I don't even know if they can accomodate the special frame geometry of a TT bike. It would be great if I could find some place to hire a TT bike, but a can't recall having ever come across a rental TT bike on the internet.

Lars, in the UK you can hire bike boxes at reasonable prices. Have you checked to see if there's something like that in Denmark? Companies do it but also people do it through eBay.

No I haven't checked that, thanks :okay: , I'll check that out tomorrow.

But I found something interesting - a kind of bike airbnb by the looks of it. This bike looks really great, albeit a bit to small for me.

Maybe it could be adjusted to serve a 189 cm tall guy for a little over half an hour .

I always just use a cardboard box from the local bike shop.

Only good for 50th place these days ^_^.

That was a great ride though. Lead by Rolf Sørensen, a former world tour rider with lots of big wins under his belt. Perfect weather and the road cleared ahead of us by police motorcycles.

If I was ever to do a long sportive again, that would be the one I chose, but unfortunately the event died after 2012.
Something about the police not having ressources for that anymore. Instead they are now spending it on 100K £ a month consultans who apparently work 30 hours a day and do top secret work...well it must be, coz nobody can figure out what they actually did.

I found a bikeshop right next to my work which boast of having bike cases specifically for TT bikes for rent.
One down, several to go. Family is probably going to be the most difficult.
