just be nosey on strava and noticed one of the cat racers in the club did it in 2015, this guy is strong.

I'm closer to this guy, in that on faster rides he'll often be drafting me. He is a lot younger than me : https://www.strava.com/activities/1021450364

This lady is a foundation rider in the club, so normally rides at abut 14mph on club rides of about 40-50 miles, she did the ride with her husband who is strong. https://www.strava.com/activities/599605344

I mean there's no way it's more expensive than a trip to Nice including entry, food and accommodation for a couple of days...

Having said that when is it in March Bob? We're off to Barbados (whoop whoop! :sun:), for a couple of weeks around the 20th I think.

Also is that £70 including bikes on plane or is Angus driving?

The point I was making is that the flights to Nice costing £80 is only the start. We could prob do Cambridge in a day from London so it'll work out a lot cheaper in comparison when the dust has settle. Not that I don't fancy doing the Nice ride too . In fact put me on the provisional list please bud.

Ps. Stop pleading poverty Mr high flying solicitor, we're not your clients! ^_^

I would have put you on the list but for the Ps.

I imagined Cambridge might be a stay over, meal, beers etc . Obviously gonna work out cheaper. And I get to ride with you guys which is a (dubious) pleasure :okay:

Just did a journey planner. It's about an hour on the train and £20. The first riders set off at 12 noon so all things considered we can do the ride, have a meal, beers and a debrief. And still be back safely secure, in the civilised inner sanctuary, of the big smog, before it gets dark in the northern outback...

It would be useful to find the start time? It seems to be around lunch last year, so that would allow some to come up by train from London on the day if they wish(saving overnight costs) I can carry 4 passengers with bikes on my truck from Peterborough station. Only short trip to start.

EDIT Tommy replied before me

Sounds good. I reckon there may be a lot of people trying to get their bikes on the trains out of london so may need to factor that in. Or we could ride there the day before

There's no deadline I don't think but the event sells out. I'm actually suprised there's still places as it's very popular. I'd say we enter asap, whenever that is. Maybe this weekend. Could always just pay up and swallow the £80 if you can't make it?

With regards speed I did the ridelondon averaging 20mph with 4,300 of climbing. This events only 2000ft. Also ride London I was out in the wind a decent chunk of the time jumping form one group to the next. I completely died 10 miles from the line, and crawled in really so I could of been faster.

I reckon if there's a group of us working together taking turns when feeling strong. It could be really good. But yeah I think for me it's an event where we say let's go and seeenwhat we can do as a group.

Ps Andy. I think Jacobs time is going to be safe ^_^

I managed 21.2mph in the 2016 RideLondon. I'm 56 so not too far away from the 21.9 mph required - and as you say, lots less climbing. Leith Hill does slow you down a lot  I'm probably up for it
