I will have whooshy wheels by then for an extra 2km an hour too:okay:

I think you slightly overestimate the wheels benefits Bob, maybe 1kmh. Looking at my cadence from yesterday, my bike setup was on the upper limit for gearing especially in the early stages. I would probably go for a compact crank as there was no hill too difficult. Maybe next years route will be different and more difficult?

Hey limiting factor was me really :smile:

Perhaps. Or at least I thought so too. Watched a Cycling Weekly test earlier and the advantage at 200w around here Hill velodrome on a windy day was clear. The longer the ride the greater the impact, less so in a pack but when alone or with only a few others. Oh I don’t know! Too much conflicting or exaggerated info on the T’internet^_^

We are all the limiting factor :okay:

@CXRAndy fantastic video my heart was racing just watching it, i had a sample taste of the atmosphere when i was at the finish line as riders passed and seeing them sprinting for the line i was glad i came and im more gutted that i couldn't join you after watching the video :cry:.

Well up for next year and some serious training would be in order or a new bike :biggrin:, @Randyberlin well done on your 2nd spot turning out to be a good trip for you:thumbsup:

But a big well done for hitting those speeds over 80 miles and in temps of over 25c.

I won’t say I told you so about the gearing ( unless this counts :tongue:)

Get some deep wheels. They sound ace and they make you feel like you can go faster. In reality they don’t though. In a pack you get virtually zero benefit as the guy in front breaks the air for you. On you’re own they make a difference if you can maintain 20+mph. So I guess a very small difference for most of us. But they do sound brilliant!

Seeing all these jerseys. We really have to organise a social ride this summer. I know lots of us will be focusing on DD and France now. But let’s startthinking about a self organised ride. August / September? I have holidays planned as I’m sure you guys do too. So who’s up for it and when can you make it? I guess is a good place to start

I think a year is long enough! I think you can buy a reduced ticket and pay extra to swap it with someone or return it.
We should all be aware they are reducing numbers next year.

Planning for me means getting someone to come and stay here with HID if I'm away the night. Need to talk to her friends nicely and offer them :cheers:

Truthfully, I never envisaged cycling so fast, and thought 25mph would be plenty fast enough. Cadence was manageable peaking at 110rpm at just over 30mph. The theory websites are pretty much spot on with the calculation. It would be a bit more HR management to drop down to 85rpm doing 30mph. Next year I would probably bring the Boardman off the turbo.

@Breedon

It was so exciting for the first 20miles, mental really. The pace settled, still quick but groups were forming and starting to work together instead trying to jump onto the next group in front. There were some strong outriders who were able to ride alone quicker but not many by 20 miles. You were stuck with your group and ride with the pace. I suppose it's natural selection of pacing
