Just spent 20 minutes catching up on you gas bags. Good luck trying to stay together. It's so hard, pairing up with similarly paced riders is easier in my experience. I think it is just as frustrating trying to keep up with someone who is stronger than you, even if you are draughting them, as it is holding back and waiting for someone when you are feeling strong, and want to test yourself.
I know the year Bill and I discussed at length how we would buddy up and help each other conquer the gruelling 128 miles of terrifying hills in the DD.....he fukked off and left me for dead 5 miles from the start!
The second time I did it Bridgy, Bill and I decided on a much looser approach....and that time Bridgy handed Bill AND I our asses! Tommy's strategy of see how it goes on the day is by far the best approach!
With regards to food stops...eating's cheatin'.......you just need a Ventolin......
That last line is of course BS.

.....and where's my bloody Easyjet cycling jersey Bridgy? This wasn't some cheap Nigerian money scam was it? Not bought a tropical island somewhere with the £300 you nicked of us have you?
There's got to be so many easier /quicker ways of making £300!! Now whether I've been scammed by a fake cycle jersey company....well that's a different possibility! They always said it would be around 6 weeks and emailed me back a few days ago to say ETA was 28/29 May so fingers crossed ...

Oh and my 87 mile sportive at the weekend, which was supposed to be a training run for the DD...SUCKED. Tempted to do the DD on my turbo, but in real time. Didn't remember cycling being so unpleasant as some of the hills I encountered last sunday.

That’ll teach you for letting your bike gather dust for the best part of two years!

Good to see you putting the miles in mate. It’ll come good

On the DD this year, I'm certain we will split on the hills , but I still intend to ride with Randy, Whorty, Rob and you, unless you speed off in which case we'll pick you up from the side of the road when we catch you at mile 90 :-)

I’ll be pleased to keep up with Whorty, I reckon he’ll be leading the pack. We all doing the biggy one now?

I’ll go along with the majority. Either is fine with me. The decision point doesn’t look that far into the ride. My optimism may not have been worn off by then. My hope is to be in OK shape by then. Add and the Swansea boys look very strong already and Whorty has turned into a watt machine. Kip rides 100s of miles in crazy weather. So get used to hearing “hey guys wait up” and “hey guys I just need 20minutes to rest my legs” and “hey are you going to finish that Welsh cake”

@BILL S are you going to make it?

I'll not make a witty reposte to that until after my test run on Sunday  I'll be doing 50 miles and 1200 metres of climbing, so a kind of 50% DD  If Sunday goes badly I'll be in a bit of a panic for the DD

In my head I'm still doing the shorter ride as I don't think I'll complete the long ride before night time sets in (and I will have a 3 hour drive home afterwards).

My current aim will be to ride and only stop for short rests, hopefully for a few minutes every 1 to 1.5 hours. Last time I stopped too long and this just killed my momentum (same at the IoW where we stopped for food and I would have preferred to crack on). This way I won't have to ride at a fast pace, just a nice easy tempo.

You'll love the welsh cakes @Randyberlin :okay:

If you all want to go for the 130 miler though, don't mind me. I'm pretty sure @rob01792 is doing the 96 mile single devil so I'll be in good company like last year :hugs:

I’m good on the 95 mile ride. I have a 53 mile ride the next day to Cardiff.
Looking forward to Welsh cakes.

Bob- is there any update on the hat front ? have you gone all aero yet ? and hows you know what holding up ? i went out the other night after moving my seat a bit to see if climbing seated would be easier - i was going great guns till a new pain went straight across the top of my knee cap - never had that before and instantly changed position as i dont want it again ! going out in a minute to see if things are back to normal
Tommy - how are your ailments doing are you keeping on top of them - does the new bike help ?
Whorty - nice new tat - but if your wifes name is debbie - you are £ucked
Add - well done on return to form and wish i was nipping at your heels on the DD if i was you i would try and hide behind kipster - a true delight to ride behind - he lets you know all whats happening without bellowing in your lug hole
Andy - just how aero are you going on the toc - are you gonna try and wheel the secret weapon around for 80 mile?
Bridgy - any changes for toc ?
Randy - getting excited yet ?
Dean - your very quiet - hope your not in intensive training and gonna turn up like an angry bruce banner
aaac - have your undercrackers untangled yet
Jim - hopefully up your way late august to take in some more of your scenery
Rob & Martyn - not seen much of you 2 yet but hopefully if we can arrange a ride between us - maybe round the cotswolds it wouldnt be too far for everybody to travel
Bill - seen even less of you ! would like to meet up once just to shake the hand of the kind gent who dragged me round bkool !
Boxers - & Del - same goes to both of you , would be good to meet up sometime

there - if i have missed anybody sorry - time to go out !!
