i was going to suggest we all try and stick together but , to be honest, i don't want to be prescriptive about it. If anyone is feeling strong and wants to go for it then I wouldnt want to stop them. Its not often we get to ride closed roads. There will be lots of riders to tag along with.
There was an email this week with details of food stops etc so perhaps a loose plan to ride together, let people go and if realistic re group t the stops?

FOOD! Where are the stops? :hungry: .I can't do 80 without nourishment

Lets just stick together take a little turn on the front and enjoy the day:okay:

Best laid plans and all that. I would offer that we ride together and hopefully with others in a pack, if the speed/conditions are there great.

Stick together over the hills and the rest will take care of itself

If we are going to stick together as a group it will take constant work and focus. That sounds more dramatic than I meant it too but... we will invariably get swallowed by bigger groups. If you stray from the unit than we will end up scattered. Like I say that’s fine. But you probably have to accept that as the reality. If you want to stay as a group it’ll take work to remain sat on a club mates wheel and be conscious of what’s happening around us. I.e speaking up when someone drops off etc.

Once there is about 10 riders speed really picks up and you can literally fly along in zone 2. I did for a good 10 miles without breaking sweat, chatting at 22 mph in parts .

There will be many riders where being in a group will be beneficial to everyone

FWIW I intend to try and stay with you guys but will let you know if I pop. Like Andy indicated going pop less likley in a group where you can sit in.

I am getting excited now!

I’m not sure you guys get what I’m saying.

I think we all already know the advantages of drafting, being in a group etc... and yes of course the bigger the group the more this effect takes hold.

What I’m saying is if we want to stick together as a club/team/whatever. Then we will have to keep in constant contact with each other I.e wheel to wheel. Or we will 100% get separated and not see each other again until maybe a food stop maybe the finish line. That’s fine If you guys are happy with that.

But either we try to stick together and hold form as a group or basically just grab a wheel and see where it takes you. I won’t try and keep a group of 5/6 people together unless it is a concerted effort by everyone or it’s pointless.

Tommy, I do get it mate. If consensus is we ride right as a fast group, wheel to wheel, rotating etc then I am in. It will be exhilarating :okay:

Hmmm, not really established whether or not we’re waiting for people or fastest few set a pace and maybe last man hangs on, until he can’t anymore at which point cya later alligator?

It’s doesn’t matter. I can sort of see the way it’s going to play out but it should be a great day nonetheless and fingers crossed no rain! I’m itching to get out on my bike at the moment but finding time is a bit of a challenge.

I live a couple miles from Biggin Hill. Every year we get various displays that over fly my house the Red Arrows, and other countries display teams, the Battle of Britain flight included. Two days of heart attacks as you don't hear them the first time because they are so low.
