Believe me, you may change your mind some time, mine are gone for good and i would give anything to spend time with them again.

I agree I see my folks more than most despite a 260mile drive to see them. But 3 days of your mum having a go at your dad because he's slow or cannot do what he used to do is more that a little wearing, then having to drive back to a worse home situation! No fun!!

Seeing three bikes I rennovated in use by some immigrants who work locally. They were in the Lidl car park discussing the bikes like some people talk about cars.

I used to be a teacher and one of the D&T teachers had a little sideline refurbishing old bikes for Polish workers (it was the time when loads of Polish people came over here to work afetr they joined the EU)
He got the bikes from a bloke that sold scrap that might just be useful at the local market - apparently he just had loads of metal stuff spread out on the tarmac and sold what he could.
It was suspected that he "rescued" a lot of it from te local tops and stuff - they were THAT bad - definitely not knicked!
My colleague went along whenever he was short of stuff and bought any bikes - or what was left of bikes - and made them up into something useable
He got a name amoung the community for always having cheap bikes that worked and stopped - he was adamant that he would never sell a bike that didn;t have decent brakes - which was apparetnly quite rare for people that sold very cheap bikes
Most were single speed - he charged a bit more for 3 speed
The stuff he got from the bloke at the market was so old he hardly ever got anything with derailleurs!!!

My mutt is having his hair cut at 12 am today. He hasn't had a cut since the 7th of September last year. It's getting warmer now and all that hair is stressing him out. I spoke to his usual groomer on Monday, asking if they could fit him in, but they couldn't do till June. I phoned another one he's been to before. They'd had a cancellation, hence the appointment today. 🐶

It's a good, well paid business now. High demand for them around here too and no shortage of mutt trimmers either.

It's around 5 grand to do the course to become a 'qualified/registered' groomer. On top of that they have all the business tax etc stuff, plus yapping dogs all day! I reckon window cleaning might not pay slightly as much, but it's so less stressful!;)

I see what seems like well groomed dogs getting hair cuts every other week. "Oh no! My Bichon Frise has a few hairs out of place, let's get it sorted asap"! No wonder us every 3 to 4 month lot can't get our mutt's done!

Whilst skulking about on Google Earth to placate my inner Geography Nerd I was ridiculously pleased to find that apparently the Spanish for Supermarket is...

"Supermercat"

Am I alone in immediately picturing a Mongoose in a cape?
