On various news channels, a report comes in from whatever place and while the reporter is telling us what's going on, there is text scrolling along the bottom of the screen about a completely unrelated story. Why do the news people feel like telling us more things at the same time.

I would add to that the reporter or news reader who as part of their preliminary reporting says something along the lines of; "Mrs X was deeply disappointed with the findings", to then cut to a clip of Mrs X saying she was deeply disappointed.

Yeah right! And the newspapers. THE NEWSPAPERS!!!!

In the title they write something happened. Then in the preliminary intro they write something happened. The main body says something happened with an extra detail thrown in. Then they quote someone who said "something happened". Wth. Talking about filler.
