Most supermarkets are going to be shut 2 whole days this year.

How will we survive????

Better resurrect the Brexit survival storage space!!!!

Xmas Eve and the day before, Is there really any need for mass panic and pushing and shoving in a supermarket for basically a Sunday dinner? People need to get a grip.

Could be even more fun this year as Chr***mas Eve is on a Sunday this year and, unless anything has been changed specially, it means much reduced opening hours for supermarkets.

I'll just pop out on Friday and pick up a few bits and leave the idiots hoards to it for the rest of the weekend.

My Dad used to be a church minister and he disliked Christmas days on Mondays because it meant he had to officiate at services for two days, including a midnight communion, on top of lots of carol services in the smaller churches; up to 14 in the last two weeks of Advent on a busy year.

He would refer to this as "Death by Carol Service"

All the ones near us are open normal Sunday hours, either 10AM - 4PM or 11AM - 5PM depending on the store. And while some will be closed Boxing day as well as Christmas, again none of the main ones (or Tesco Express & similar) will be closed round here.

I believe the Main centre of Swansea Tesco will be closed Boxing day, because that one caught us out last year.

I meant reduced hours compared to a normal day when they possibly could have been open until late

It's the recently created hysteria of panic as the shops are closed for a whole day and folk might run out of something vital like tatties - !

Listening to the radio yesterday, the station announced a phone in competition for someone to be able to win £230k.
A few minutes later they ran an appeal for children in poverty in the UK.
Is there something skewed with the standards in this country - ?

Sadly it involves human beings who are capable of amazing duplicity.

Annoying thing

Text message - including text messages on WhatsApp

They are fine for a quick message where time is not critical

but my wife is currently involved in a conversation with her son via text about arrangement for Thursday
It is complicated because the eldest gran-duaghter has a Christmas Church Service and wants her Mum and Gran to be there
her 3 year old brother needs looking after
and the 6 year old SEN son will be coming home early at 2:30 - middle of the service

so I am being asked about things every 3-5 minutes
making a comment - getting no reply as my wife is typing something on her phone
then a message comes back a bit later

this has been going on for 15 minutes

If he had just rung up using the damn thing rather than using text messages as a medium for a long conversation - then it would have all been sorted in about 2 minutes

Instead we have a message every minute or so between 2 people with 2 other peoplebeing asked questions off line

I just wish people would us the thing that is designed for the mode of contact - rather than using the one they feel comfy with!!!

I mean - it is not like the phone is a new fangled thing!!!!

It's completely reasonable to be annoyed by this. In fact, I would expect it!

I am on a text messaging service giving ferry information regarding imminent changes to timetables.
It can be very useful indeed essential to get the basic information but they then go on to state the very obvious consequences eg a ferry run is altered and the knock on effect is inevitable.
You think they have finished but it continues on and on. Nothing short and to the point.

OH FFS!!
conversation has continued this evening
turns out that the two parents (my wife's son and his partner) haven;t communicated fully
so today she is asking the same questions
and just to confuse it some messages "crossed in the ether" resulting in my wife making suggestions and a split seconds later getting a message asking is we could do the same thing
That was agreed to last night - eventually

JUST BLOODY RING UP FFS

anyway - I have no idea what I am doing tomorrow but I suspect it will involve rushing around with tired kids
