Trivial things that make you annoyed beyond expectations?

Computers and similar giving me unnecessary messages along the lines of "Your requested action has been carried out." Well yes, I should hope it's been carried out, as that's the point of the exercise; otherwise it's taking up shelf space.

Then the programme demands you acknowledge the accomplishment by clicking on "okay" before it will do anything else.

My router takes things a step further; when it's switched on and (finally) manages to find the bit of wire plugged into it that gives internet access it proclaims "Connection has been made!" with the cheery exclamation mark, and then it's display gives itself a little firework display.

And don't get me started on the programmes that say things like "The report has been printed" when it clearly hasn't...

Every week I hear then see what's probably a teaching assistant barking orders at a group of primary school children. This has been going on since I moved here 6 years ago (obviously they aren't the same children year in year out, before anyone points it out:rolleyes:). Now that a yoga studio has opened up across from my flat the children are marched in there every Wednesday. The thing that annoys me is that this woman is actually quite intimidating in her manner. "Do not look up", "stop there do not cross the road without my permission", stop talking and start listening", "who said you could let go of her hand" are some of the things I've heard her say. Now I'm all for school discipline, but they are aged about 4 or 5 not teenagers. One child saw my little dog as I came out my flat the other week and smiled and waved at him, as young children do. All of a sudden I heard "do not wave at that dog, it could be dangerous, get hold of her hand"! Heck, this is boot camp/borstal stuff, not primary school stuff! Why all this barking orders? I suppose the road safety stuff is to more or less to scare them into being very wary of how dangerous roads can be, but she's talking to them like they're army cadets, not young school children! Is this the thing these days, barking orders at children 4 or 5 years old? I find it quite worrying.

I blame the merkins where there's blame there's a claim culture, TBH if the children are walking down the side of the road strict discipline is a good thing, far better then letting then run wild up & down like I see mums & dads do when I pick granddaughter up from school.

Thinking more about this, it does sound like a good thing and I wouldn't really class it as abusive. My son's school is the other way around; luckily a good area so 99% of kids are well behaved, but the teachers daren't give them any form of discipline for fear of helicopter parents coming in and giving them a mouthful! FOr example, in the playground at picking up time, there have been loads of emails to us parents aying "don't let you kids play on the apparatus, and no scooters or bikes allowed in the playground". But every day I see the same little shite whizzing around on a bike, nearly bashed into my legs the other day. A bit of discipline does them good, they've got to learn that in life they'll get shouted at but it doesn't mean it's a personal attack

This is an ACCY thread remember.

Hmmm, I wouldn't be so sure ...

In fact I think we should ALL take a look back at the true origins of this mighty 300-page thread. Maybe recollect the golden days, and see if they can inspire our own posts. I'll start by quoting this classic:
The vilification across the decades of the character Rumplestiltskin.

The girl's father is full of avarice and social ambition, the King is a borderline psychopath and also has issues over material possessions.

Rumplestiltskin just wants to help and asks a fair price, agreed in advance.

He even makes it easy for the Queen to guess his name... Who else in a similar situation would dance (alone!) around a campfire singing "The Queen will never guess my name is Rumplestiltskin"?

And he'd given her that "Guess my name" get-out when he didn't have to... And when he lost he just left them to it...

A genuine guy who did a great deal to help and ultimately did so for nothing.

That so-called 'trivial thing' makes me crosser than even Stalin's purge of the officer class or people making sucky noises on straws...

Please explain the meaning of that comment

Simple really, most of his posts are either made up or exaggerated in order to attract as many replies as possible.

Obviously this is my personal opinion which I realise isn't allowed on this forum and this post probably won't last long and a ban from either the thread or the entire forum will probably be coming my way soon.

Clear enough for you?

Ok, maybe not the ENTIRE thread rather the last topic, but you knew what I meant didn't you?

Yep, your not so subtle passive aggressive responses to his posts, you do know about the ignore button don't you?
