Mmm, this one taken off a local gossip/buy and sell/lost & found/nail bar advice
etc,etc Facebook page is difficult. I more or less agree with the statement below, but the other day I left my mutt in my car while I went shopping for 20 minutes. It was about 5.30, the sun was shining and it was about 22 Celsius. I'd left my car's two windows open about 5 inches and the soft top roof open about 8 inches. You have to open them as much as possible while bearing in mind a too wide open window could attract a thief who could steal my mutt by reaching in, unfastening his seat belt and taking him out via that open roof or windows. I'd also put a thin blanket over the windscreen to block the sun out. My dog had just been offered water, which he refused as he'd been drinking it all day. Anyway, as I locked my car a woman approached me saying "You're not going to leave that dog in that boiling car are you"! I told her he was comfy, cool, watered etc, but it didn't matter! She then said "if you leave him in that car I'll smash the window to rescue him"! I then took a photo of her saying If that happens I'll have a photo of the one who's committed the criminal act. This incident made me very wary of such a thing happening, with me coming back to my car to find a broken window and my dog missing. My gripe is that yes!, if A dog is clearly in distress in a hot car then do as it says below, but if you see a dog in a car on a 'hot' day and it seems comfy and well ventilated etc then you can't just go smashing car windows and 'rescuing' dogs just because the plod say you can!! 🧐

Police say if you see a dog locked in a car in case of high heat, take a picture of the dog and the car, call the police, wait 5 minutes and break the car window. This way you will not be charged with criminal damage and will give evidence to the police to take the dog owners to court.
Can anyone copy and paste this information to prevent this atrocity from happening?
