Those cyclists who tell everyone to stop when they see a red light, and then tell them to go when theres a green light.

Like, yeah, we know what red and green lights are!

Phones only charging to 80%. But what if I need a full charge for that day?

I paid for the phone, i need the battery life, now a software update from the manufacturer is limiting my phone's features?

(Expletive) ridiculous.

My X10 charges to 90% `to save battery life'. Every now and then it does the whole 100% for reasons ony Sony know..
I can override this at any time by poking a button.

AFAIK, all phones that do that have an override if you think you need more. It is done to prolong the life of the battery, but 'm not convinced it is worthwhile for most of us.

I put some marigolds out last night to get some rain. I've just been out to bring them inside and found they've been nabbed. There was only 4 or 5 flowers, from a shop bought tray of about 20. Probably about 75 pence worth of flowers.

Thanks for this info. I think though (and i only researched this for 5 minutes) my pixel does not have an over-ride setting.

I charge my Pixel 5 to 80% most of the time. I don't charge it to 100% very often, so it allows me to do that when I DO want to.

I can see that it would be annoying if you thrash the phone every day and so need to charge to 100%, and are happy with the fact that your battery would fail more quickly by doing so.

I think on the Pixel, it is called "Adaptive Charging". If I understand that right, you should be able to turn it off by going to Settings=>Battery=>Adaptive Charging

Haaa! Thanks. I even saw that setting but thought* nothing further of it!

* I tend not to think about bothersome things these days, Ive done enough of that in my life. But thank you (and 1 or 2 other CC'ers who alluded to a similar setting).
