When asking for directions, people who don't have the vaguest idea where the place is but insist on telling you, usually for ages, that they don't know, "but it might be near <add random road/shop/pub>"

Trying to be helpful is nice, but please just say "Sorry, I haven't a clue" and move on...

I got asked where a restaurant was ; hadn't a clue and said so only to get rebuked by the questioner who insisted if I was a local I should know ! So under force suggested where it might be (it wasn't).

Use it regularly in work.

What is it that annoys you about it?

Any layout-based data serialization format is the work of the devil. It’s human readable in the same way in the same way that urine is human-drinkable. Is it an object? Is it an array? Is it an array of objects?! Have I used an editor with the “use spaces for tab” option?!? 2 spaces? 4 spaces?? What the **** is wrong with typing a ****ing ’{‘ now and again?!! Python? Try working out code scope without a fully tooled IDE with syntax validation holding your hand.

A pox on it. Proper angry. Not posing. Two days of fecking about with Azure pipelines trying to fix an authentication issue does that to a man.

Sounds like you may be in a similar line of work to me ;)

We are in the middle of transferring all our Bamboo pipelines to Azure at the moment. Though personally, I have enough other stuff keeping me busy that I can leave that mostly to other people.

And agreed about Python, it ain't great to work with unless you have a decent IDE (We use Pycharm).

My main use of yaml is configuration files for dbt, and that is probably rather simpler than what you are playing with.

Those pedestrians at pelican crossings and traffic lights who press the button to stop the traffic, than cross before the light turns to green for them, annoy me immensely! If they can/could cross without stopping the traffic why did/did they press the button in the first place ffs?!!!!:ninja:

Because they didn't know that a gap would appear before the lights changed for them.

I'm more on about those who can see it's clear to walk but still press the button before walking. I even see some step off the kerb when it's safe to walk, then step back to press the button before crossing. Then the green for walk, red for me to stop light comes (stays) on when they're safely across the road. Mind you most who do it look the type who can't afford a car, so maybe they have a chip on their shoulder.🧐

Yeah, those would annoy me too - whether I'm driving/riding on the road or crossing with them.

Speaking personally, if I know drivers will actually stop on the red light and not accelerate when they see the yellow, I'd be more inclined to wait. As it is, I tend to cross when there's a gap as I think it can be safer.
