Yo don't spend your time looking at a screen with a satnav, You listen to the voice, maybe occasionally glancing at the screen to see how far to the next change when it's too early to be told.

As I've posted before it's far safer to glance at a map draped over the passenger seat

How on earth is it safer to be "glancing" over at a map on the passenger seat than listening to a voice saying "turn left in 400 yards". Not that you would be "glancing" at it, if you want to get enough information to be useful, unless it is just a very large scale map of the area round your final destination.

Example: At the recycling centre there are wide ramps going up to the skip to hoy stuff in. And there are narrower ramps for walking back down once you are unencumbered with heavy, bushy or pointy things.
The terminally Stupid are the ones who do it several times, complaining about other people getting in their way as they are struggling up with stuff.
