Cars; precisely, the left hand does all the important stuff like changing gear, applying the handbrake, fiddling with the radio, transferring sweets to the mouth etc, while the right hand opens the door now Doesn’t even do that with that new Dutch method.
Cricket, just a little joke from someone who bowled at Lords, (Whitbread cup, but mentions it at every opportunity)
Still none the wiser, someone said driving was better for right handed people but as you point out it's predominantly the left hand you use in this country.

changing gear
Does anyone still do this? Mine does it for me!

When an organisation sends you a letter saying "we've made a simple procedure for you to enter your data online" as if they're doing you a favour, but you know it will be much more complex and take far longer.

Case in point this week: a form from our health insurance. In Germany my family is covered for free under my insurance until the kids are older and/or earning, and now and again they ask me to fill in a form to update the situation.

Fair enough.

Up until now it was a paper form, but now I get a letter saying it has to be done online.

Time taken to fill in a paper form: 15 minutes plus a couple of minutes to post it.

Time taken so far for online form; one week of trying to get the right numbers to enter into the website; I haven't even started on the form itself...

Handidness is really about fine motor skills and muscle memory. Changing gear requires little of either and can be done equally with with either arm. It offers neither advantage nor disadvantage

For instance driving primary requires speed and brake control from a rightist point of view.

I have a semi-automatic inasmuch as when my grandkids are in the car, whichever has priority front seat status that day will change gears for me.

Doubtless you have subsequently added "check phone fully charged" to your pre-departure checklist.

That's shocking - and inexcusable. They charge a fortune, and they have one job: to be there to help when you need them. But they view that 'when' as an opportunity to target you with messaging that serves their commercial interests rather than deliver the service you've paid for? I'm genuinely shocked. I'd certainly never even think about joining them after reading that.

I certainly do now but at the time it should have been adequate, A person should have answered the phone got my location and thats it-help on the way. Its not the time for a sales pitch. Often in the hillier regions the signal can be lost and so would have to go through all the options again when the connection chimes back in. I like the AA and the service they provide but they need to revise how emergency calls are answered!
