Actually it doesn't matter about the pedals, so long as you've got the same size feet, I can have a go...

....not really, I'd be scared of having a clipless moment and scratching your bend new bike (I'm afraid I have form on this)
You can borrow my carbon Scott Crax. I'll be riding the alu compact.

Incidentally, Ossie is definitely out. He's having an op to re-attach the thumb ligament on Friday and will be in a cast for 6 weeks. I told him to zip-tie the cast to the bars and he'd be fine but he was unimpressed.

Oh dear, never mind look on the bright side, you could replace him with a female !

Very nice Rich, in fact stylish, I had no idea you had style.

LD, did you plot a shorter route in gps ride and can you put it up. I just want an alternative to the 100, which I'm still aiming for but a flat 75 this week was a bit of a reality check.

. . . . . . . but a flat 75 this week was a bit of a reality check.

75 miles !!! I've only cycled so far, twice in my life ! Did you have any stops ?

In preparation for the 100, I did a 30 miler last weekend and I was quite pleased with myself - it is, after all, double what I normally do. I was planning to do another 30 miler this Saturday; so I might just see if I've time to make it 50 or 60.

My training has taken a hit, with a week and a bit off due to a cold, still hacking and wheezing this week and 2 fecking weeks of jury service next. I'll have to hit the turbo.

I'm only mortal though Pubby, I don't have your powers of matter transport to the top of the hill when people aren't looking!

I stopped for half an hour and spent about another half hour in total, trying to figure out my inadequate route instructions and not get lost. I'd nearly reached my current limits at the end and it was flat, windy but flat.

Yeah, but once you get out with the guys, your naturally exuberant manner, coupled with large amounts of adrenaline - further fortified with a pint or two (and a few sacks of pork scratchings) will see you through the day..

Some cake will help, but be quick; 'cos LD & Banjo will snaffle the lot, given the chance and have no qualms about doing so.

I hope that we don't get a 'split' of riders - with some who choose to do a shorter route. I can see myself being tempted to do likewise, especially if (as I expect) it'll be getting quite dark.

I've never tried a turbo; my brother in law has one - that I've half a mind to borrow.

How far can you manage in one go - before boredom creeps in ? Do you have to use special tyres ?

The most I've done is an hour but I generally get too bored after 30 minutes. To be honest, I fine the best way of getting through a session is to do intervals and the time seems to go quicker.
Your boredom threshold is dependent on your ability to withstand the pain as much as anything else which is probably why Ducky sold his turbo:whistle:
