The gentleman's agreement relates to not attacking the yellow jersey, not improving your GC to 5th place in any event., hence not shooting off when they do a photo call, or sipping champagne early in the stage
I don't think there's anything that specific. It's just that everyone takes it easy because if you did try something on (a) you would be easily chased down and (b) those tired riders who had to do the chasing would hate your guts for making them work. That's pretty much all there is to it.

At least, that's how it was explained by David Millar.

And as a result, there are photoshoots and whatnot early on, and then there is a serious circuit race.

No, they weren't. As even you correctly state, it was the bonus seconds for winning that moved him up. Go back and read what I wrote!

I did nothing of the sort. I stated, some but crucially not all, of the salient facts. You need to learn to read!

Not that it remotely matters, but the GC times were settled on the first lap of the Champs-El due to wet weather protocols. Vino attacked on the final lap. Anyway, no need to get personal.

Stage finish times were settled, but not the bonifications, so the GC times were quite clearly not settled. :banghead:

Anyway, congratulations, you're the first person I'm putting on 'ignore' after 14 years on this forum.

Some years ago I rode the route of the tour in the morning befire the race arrived. Going up a small hill, a guy in full medieval jester clothes came and ran alongside me shouting incomprehensibly. It was quite fun.

He didn't have his arse hanging out.

Did you leave the start 2 weeks before?!🤣🤣🤣

Anyone brave enough to predict the impact the TT will have on the difference between the top 2?

I predict Pog will take 6 seconds, putting him 4 seconds behind. I say this not because I have a clue what will happen (I don't), but because if he did, and then if they went Pog 1st ,Vingo 2nd over the bonus seconds at Courchevel they would be dead level. Which would make it all the more exciting. (I think it's 10 and 6 bonus seconds).
