I brought a Octavia last year from a reputable long standung dealer 4x4 dealer found out it's rusty underneath and has been welded.

I know how it feels when you have been ripped off!,😢
But then I got a half a house full of furniture for £60 delivery.

Same here recently. Awning suction mount arrived with a suction cup mount missing. Ended up with a refund and kept the unit and bought replacement parts. Brand new air bed, very expensive. One way valve wasn't one way. Had to contact company as nearly 60 days since purchase but hadn't been out of the bag (its repair not replace at this age). I said I suspected it wasn't assembled correctly at factory. That's been repaired and sent back to me with a new valve (it was damaged on assembly). At least the postage was refunded.

We have 1960's 'picture windows' and hence need low and log radiators in some rooms. Only one major Co in UK had the required sizes, and we ordered them. The next week they came strapped onto pallets - One was strapped with such force that the brackets on the rear of the rad were bent, so back it went. The replacement arrived the following week, and the brackets were ok, but it had a scratch across the front near the top. I called the Co and asked what they would do....... it was a choice of yet another (presumably a large cost to them), so I seized my opportunity and took a £50 refund and got the paint pot out! Each rad was over £200 (this was 15 years ago) and had 2p worth of packaging for protection.
Contrast that with the rad we got from Screwfix which came double-boxed with extra padding - the packaging alone must have been £3 worth! and it was only a £40 rad.

I've had so much crappy quality stuff that I've stopped sending it back for fear that I'll get my Amazon account closed for returning too much.

Then stop buying off them I say! Folk seem to be addicted to buying off the buggers. A classic example! A woman I know said to me quite a while ago that she's losing custom with her florist business due to folk buying much cheaper than her's, low quality flowers from Amazon. Later on I mentioned to her that I needed a certain item. straight away she whipped out her phone and said she'd look for one on Amazon and order it for me!

I have been fortunate, never had to return an item for being damaged and when I have bought used the condition has tended to be better than expected. I sell quite a bit through ebay and most of the feedback I receive tends to be how the item was exactly as described and people being pleasantly surprised which I guess highlights how much stuff sold is nowhere near the condition many sellers claim.

To add to the buying new stories, a mate of mine had to send back five fridges purchased through AO due to damage. I asked him if he was sure they weren't just resending him the same one each time!

We had similar with a Oak table we ordered from Multiyork. Saw it the shop but they then sent you one from the warehouse. It arrived with issues with legs, it went back, the next one was the same. Numbers 3 and 4 were put on the drive inspected by the delivery drivers and put back on the van. The delivery guys didn’t load the van so they had no idea what was under the packaging.
we ordered a different table in the end.

I ordered a new spare tyre for my van. Did it via BlackCircles and selected an appointment with a suitable local establishment for next week

Just had an email - they cant do that day. Then why have it on the f&*^%$g calendaer for customers to select?

I need Amazon because I can't get out to the shops. At least with Amazon it saves registering an account with a new retailer every time I buy something. I've only placed four orders in the last 18 months or so.

36 orders from Amazon so far in 2025.

Amazing service, wouldn't want to be without it, tbh.

I’ve generally been fairly lucky but that seems to have run out. I had a horrendous time getting books shelves for my home. Ordered two from Oak Furnitureland and both had suffered major damage during shipping. I rejected them but was told they only deliver, I need the collections team! Took a while but I got them uplifted and a full refund.

Ordered replacements and they went missing along the way. Another refund.

This year hasn’t started great. 6 parcels thing year so far have gone missing or been damaged in transit.
