Not a bad investment of 15 minutes - £108 saved!
Ooh - I just got a confirmation email from Plusnet ... My discount is for the full term of the contract so that is 18 * £9 saved, = £162! :okay:

They confirmed that I can upgrade to a fibre package with the same discount as soon as my local cabinet is connected to fibre. That should happen within 12 months. With the discount, a 76 Mb/s connection would cost me what my current 15-16 Mb/s was costing me.

O2 are supposed to be giving free WiFi down the valley.
Looks like only the local bookies offer it!

We have finally got a decent 4G signal on O2 in Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. I couldn't even get 3G before that. I decided that I'd sign up for 1 GB worth of 4G a month (giffgaff on O2) which will usually be ample for when I am out and about.

It would be nice if you contacted your existing loyal customers and offered them the deal that you are offering to new customers. If I hadn't been checking your fibre offer in anticipation of my local cabinet being hooked up next year, I wouldn't have seen how much I could save. At least you did offer it to me as soon as I contacted you. Be assured though that I did notice that your T&C state that I will revert to the old rate in a year's time despite this being a new 18 month contract. I will contact you again in 11.5 months time and have the same online 'chat' again then! :okay:

Not sure why you couldn't have said that to them?

I didn't want to phone them because I got put on hold for over 30 minutes the last time I did, then transferred to someone else with another long delay.

I did say in my 'chat' message that I would have liked them to have contacted me to offer the better deal.

I should have paid more attention to my bank statements. I had set up a direct debit for the phone/internet account and didn't really keep track of how much was going out each month.

Giffgaff monitor what I am doing on my mobile and suggest alternatives if they think I am overspending.

Anyway ... My main intention was to remind people to check if they can get better deals rather than just stick with what they have got. My niece always does it with Sky when her contract is coming to an end. She tells them that she is considering switching to Virgin Media and then they come up with a much improved offer.

PS I have just been looking back at old emails and Plusnet DID offer me a cheap fibre broadband deal a few months back. Unfortunately, my local cabinet hasn't been connected to fibre yet so I'd just ignored the email. They did NOT mention their similar non-fibre deal.

It wasn't me driving at 37 in a 30, and I didn't set off the speed camera......

If you'd given me more work I'd not be writing the letter I am.
Admittedly, if you weren't getting me to drive for an hour to do an hours work it would help.
But I like you all, and I have genuinely enjoyed my time here.

Perhaps I should say all of that...

In fact, I pretty much have just said that. Perhaps I should delete the post!

I understand your FB rage at the ignorance of some children. However, I think you should be more upset about your child being racially abused and spat at, than the perpetrator not knowing that Pakistan is further from Indonesia, than it us from the UK.
