Can't understand why it was so busy.

Sorry - bit slow on the uptake. It is the vintage weekend and the classic car show, but nothing that would immediately make you think it would be so chaotic.
The situation wasn't helped by engineering work between Leeds and Bradford meaning trains were diverted via Brighouse - despite conflicting and at times downright wrong information being given at the stations at both ends.
Still, I managed to get there and back in one piece, so all's well that ends well.

Nothing at Halifax, or Bradford about any engineering work.

Although different and totally incorrect announcements were being made at the stations...
"Trains between Leeds and Manchester Victoria via Hebdon Bridge are diverted to start / terminate at Bradford Interchange"
Where's Hebdon Bridge?

WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT??!!

There I was lying in bed earlier, and suddenly, I hear a power cutter or saw of some sort..... At 3am (I originally thought it was a chainsaw).

So I get up to investigate and soon establish it is most probably coming from a building in the nearby Marina. I am still not sure if it is someone up to something, but figure that if I can hear it, then others can too, including people who work there, so they must either be deaf or rather stupid.

Just as I am leaving, I hear what appears to be welding starting, and then a grinder (repeat all the noises described numerous times over a 2 hour period, complete with the occasional shout, confirming nothing bad is probably happening).

They have now finished, but WHAT was so important that it had to be done at 3, 4, and 5am, seriously??!! I bet they woke up people living a bit closer too!:wacko:

I might have to investigate later.

To all you well meaning people passing by who keep telling me "you've got a nice day for it!"; I would like to say - do you really think I would be standing outside painting an exterior wall if there was a feckin' monsoon happening??
It's no coincidence that I chose a dry day for such tasks, jeeez.....

UPDATE:

Oh My!! They are at it AGAIN!! On a Sunday night when people will be going to work the next day.
Seriously, who ARE these genuine class 1 grade A idiots?? And why only start now??!!

I meant to ask who they were earlier but forgot.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Unless they know about it, they can't do anything.
If you can hear it, what's it like closer to it?
It's probably road resurfacing works. It makes more sense to close a busy street overnight than during the day, because noise that those affected know is very short term isn't all that disruptive. It happened recently on our local High Street
