Somebody in my terraced street once started doing VERY noisy DIY at about 03:00. Drilling holes in walls, using a circular saw, hammering etc. I could hear them from 3 houses away so it must have been terribly noisy either side of them!UPDATE:
Oh My!! They are at it AGAIN!! On a Sunday night when people will be going to work the next day.
Seriously, who ARE these genuine class 1 grade A idiots?? And why only start now??!!
I meant to ask who they were earlier but forgot.
It's probably road resurfacing works. It makes more sense to close a busy street overnight than during the day, because noise that those affected know is very short term isn't all that disruptive. It happened recently on our local High Street
Could be some sort of a refit, a lot of firms have work done at night to minimise disruption during their working day (shops, cafes and bars etc.)
I meant a shop/café/bar in the Marina complex, there will at least be a Chandlers in there that sells gas/fuel.No, I am sure it is one of the buildings in the nearby Marina *as originally stated in my original message* and I saw or heard no evidence of road works anywhere or shops being refitted when I investigated the night before last. The noise was coming from the wrong direction anyway.

On a more serious note what I'd actually like to be able to say today is 'I still have a cat' but can't
