Part of the reason I quit the band was being fed up fending drunken off prats. Last gig I did some arriss tried to get hold of my Geddy Lee so he could prat about airmguitar style.

I managed to get between him and it and explained how laying so much as a finger on it could be seriously detrimental to his health.

So sadly I too agree with Mr Nut. Half a pack of wine gums and the great British public are being like utter twits, so pubs aren't for me either.

Beyond ā€œbasic needā€, material posesiones in general have lost their allure.

Houses, gardens and cars are an ongoing maintenance headache and how much unnecessary clutter seems to get accumulated over the years made worse by societyā€™s commercially driven obsession with giving unwanted gifts.

Agreed.

Can we make an exception for bikes?

I think we all lose interest in certain things as we age. Here, neither of us want for anything materially and, apart from the occasional frivolity, only really buy things on a replacement basis. Ergo, not much interest in 'stuff'.

On the other hand we have expanded interests & activities in other areas.

Mrs SD with charitable 'works' and I make a point of studying (via web research & books) three new topics every year - been doing this for the past few years now.

Everything really. I've never really liked xmas apart from being very young say under 8. After that it was just tedious as my Dad was always at the club and my Mum worked all hours even on Xmas day. Now I'm not interested in presents and all that rubbish. Its primarily a money grab aimed at young children.
I just care about getting the basics sorted out. Now I'm on with having the house rewired then I'll be redecorating the whole thing. That will be enough for keeping me occupied. I'm not interested in nights out/ drinking/socializing/ meals out/ family things, none of it.

Not that interested in cars anymore (never thought Iā€™d ever say that) and although I still have a motorcycle and enjoy riding it from time to time, Iā€™m not that mad about motorcycles either. Another thing I have no interest in anymore is eating out, it always seems to be disappointing. Rather have a nice meal at home.

but still love bikes, love fixing them and love riding them.

I have also lost any interest in career progression. I earn enough for my modest lifestyle, I don't want to climb the company ladder at all.

I never really had much interest in that.

I was always a techie sort of guy (but software rather than hardware) much more than a "people" person, and any career progression would have resulted in me moving into more of a people management role.

I can't honestly think of much that I have been seriously interested in previously, but no longer have an interest. As a few others have said, motorsports is probably the closest.

Scuba diving. Used to be very keen on it (as was my OH) but after she had a close call in a cold dark murky quarry we realised how man it was. I am really keen on the ā€Scary Interestingā€œ podcast which seems mostly about diving accidents, allows me to confirm my prejudices and shout ā€œstupid p*llocks!ā€ from the sidelines

Alcohol Havenā€™t had a drop in 20 years when I realised that it just made me morbidly depressed (and I mean that literally)

Really scary is scuba diving, I've done it once in a quarry, never again. It was really frightening. The guy that took us was a very tough man who had dived for the Marines/Navy and had worked underwater on oil rigs. You don't appreciate how brave people are really to do these things. Especially when its pitch black when its very deep.
