Fishing...i did enjoy being outside, watching the wildlife and trying to outwit a sea trout.....but cant do it anymore or kill anything. Towards the end of my fishing career i would only take fish which were deeply hooked but eventually put everything back. I couldnt justify it anymore ie tormenting a fish for my own jollies/amusement. A seatrout is a beautiful fish and stocks are in serious decline, at least im not contributing to their demise. Ive kept my gear in case of apocalypse survival...

It's the same with cars in general. I'm perfectly happy to drive a one litre Yaris. People express surprise when they find out it is my only car because apparently you need at least 200bhp nowadays.
I used to be a serious car geek. I swapped the 302 V8 from a '68 Mustang into a '72 Capri when I was in high school, which had a much better power to weight ratio. As housing projects proliferated and speed limits dropped, there were no fun roads to hoon around on any more. Now I drive a 1-liter Suzuki Swift, old enough to wear an antique license plate.

I never thought we would own a 1.0 car with only 60bhp, my motorcycle has 100bhp more! But the whole family love it, brilliant little car.

Same for me.

I don't understand; for years I'd have half a bottle of red wine every day, and enjoyed it. That reduced to a small glass daily when I was about 50.

Five years ago I belatedly realised I got no enjoyment from it and stopped.

No big decision, just lost interest.

I’d better get into training!
