Theyre good there, to be fair. The keep Mrs D sorted for hearing aids.

That's good, ta 👍
I've not had many interactions with the NHS but have found the staff are usually excellent. It's just getting through the bureaucracy to actually see them.
Maybe if I drop your name into the conversation I'll get a free cuppa or summat 🤗

Morning!
First lift today….heading over the Vanoise Express for another day in La Plagne.

I lied….we checked the window & then the forecast, & decided today would make a great rest day!
La Plagne will be nicer tomorrow!

One thing I'm doing to stave off the boredom is School Reading and it's great although I've lost a few friends over it!

I heard about it through a Radio 4 appeal for volunteers made by Gyles Brandreth and thought it sounded interesting so applied. After a few practice sessions and getting the enhanced DBS through, they placed me on a list and the headmistress from a school near me that didn't include either of my grandkids chose me to read at her school although she's admitted it's as much for my guitar playing as for the reading! They compete in inter-school performance competitions but my youngest grandson complained that I'd be competing against his school!

So I'm reading with selected books for kids in reception class - about 15 or so per hour - and the range of abilities is very wide. Some don't need assistance at all while others need a lot of patience and encouragement. Most are of Asian origin and that's led to falling out with my next door neighbours and a former friend. I see kids, they see trouble and are accusing me of helping it along! They're unbelievably thick so had to go by the wayside. It's my days today and tomorrow so looking forward to it very much.

Reminds me - must do the DBS check for the volunteering I am trying to start up

in other news - I bent down to put some ham in the fridge yesterday and my back went

I'm fine standing and sitting
going between the 2 is a problem

SWMBO has insisted that Ibuprofen work better than moaning and groaning!!!

She is probably right, no, she is definitely right, she is, after all a woman, but, moaning and groaning is more fun that ibuprofen ;)

It won't be long before I'm posting on here that I put both of my socks on WITHOUT HAVING TO SIT DOWN!

Just a heads-up that if you are likely to be volunteering for a few years, as soon as you get your certificate, sign up for the subscription service, as then you won't need to do it again, and your DBS can be checked online by whoever you're volunteering with.

Thanks - done that before when I was taking short term jobs in schools fixing computers
helped a lot and meant that I didn't have to fill in a new form for every potential job!

I got caught out by not applying quickly enough the first time, so got in there quick the next time, and put the yearly fee on direct debit.

I have just been informed that I am going to the pub at lunch time.

I have a repeat prescription for Omeprosil. It's the lowest dose at 10 mg but I do need it to stop the acid.
It gets delivered by Click Chemist. Normally very good but they cocked up this time and I have just made my 3rd phone call to chase it up. They assure me it will be delivered today or tomorrow.
