Not the " work disturbs my mental health" argument

Now, now, as daughter no4 often tells me “don’t be so judgemental” 😂

I usually counter with “you mean, don’t be so sensible” 😂

Chilly but pleasant wander done and porridge had.

I have had a mad notion to learn an instrument recently  Having researched a fair bit, I have discounted almost everything as being too difficult except the ukulele so got a cheap one coming later today. Only £60 so if I use it a few times and get fed up, it’s no huge loss. At least nowadays there’s loads of great teaching lessons on the tube. Maybe if I take it really slowly and don’t try to learn too much at once, I might pick it up enough to at least manage half a dozen easy chords

Go for it Mo. I know many people who have learned to play the ukulele in later life. I'm not saying it's easy but it is very achievable.

I think people know I'm involved with our local u3a. We have a u3a ukulele group. At least 50% of the players, including Mrs P, learned from scratch through joining the group. Mrs P invested in an electronic tuner. She finds it a great help.

For a bit of fun get on YouTube and search for the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. We've seen them live twice. Absolutely amazing.

Just got a text from the optician to arrange my 2 yearly check up so that’s it booked for the 18th. I’m thinking about giving varifocals another try as I’m fed up swapping between reading and distance. I don’t think I gave them a long enough try the last time.
I'm picking up my varifocals on Sunday. I was the same, tried them but didn't like them, however my main issue was driving in them. I decided to give them another go because my reading vision is getting worse and was feeling the same, fed up of having to keep changing glasses, but I've also ordered a pair of single vision glasses just for driving.

Brilliant - place is full of nutters with ukuleles but those sort of nutters are fine by me!

Yep! That's it. Utterly bonkers and performed by very, very talented musicians. People who are so good they can take the mickey out of themselves and anything they fancy because they command so much respect.

Stairway to Heaven on ukulele is a whole new take on things.

All my jobs are now done and coffee has been drunk and am safely back home in the warm. 😀

Loving the ukulele and George Formby chat and was wondering if any could confirm the vague idea I have in the back of my mind that my dad told me that George Formby mostly played a banjolele ?
