Early start today, as with all Saturdays, to get the daughter to her job at a racing yard.

Later I’ll be collecting the same daughter from the yard and then taking her to London on a shopping spree.

In between times I hope to have a quick ROUVY.

This retirement lark is exhausting.

Another grey and still day. Yesterday I took the existing worktop out of the outhouse, rearranged the tumble dryer and fridge before moving the one above the larder fridge and freezer in to its place. I also did a bit of patching up in the small bedroom and rearranged the furniture to make it more cosy for our granddaughter when she has a sleepover. Carrying umpteen bags of kitchen stuff upstairs for temporary storage gave me a virtual pat on the back from my Garmin.
More of the same today, but I will find time to brave the elements and head out for a run, it's taters out there but at least it's not raining🤞

I have made an important decision. Paul will be having a new summer road bike. My main concern about this is I love my carbon Cervelo C3. I need something at least as good. She fits me like a glove. It was £3000 in 2016. I truly fret over getting it wrong and buying something I don't enjoy as much.

I see two choices. I would value opinions.

1. Buy a new bike with a probable cost of £5 - 7000

2. Have the Cervelo stripped, repainted and rebuilt. It's disc braked. I add a new electronic group set and wheels. I don't know the cost but imagine it will be lower.

Any views?

Can't help you there. Sometimes I fancy a new bike. I like the look of Van Moof bikes.

What do you fancy bike wise.

Morning
Up earlyish for a Saturday as the landscapers are still here

still can't get the bike out of the shed - could have yesterday but the flags just outside and up the side passageway were just put down so I couldn't get it out to the road anyway!
Hope fully I'll be able to clear so pace and get it sorted tomorrow and then use it for a ride
and shopping - as I am still banned from driving until the end of the month and walking to Tesco is a fair way - and then back with heavy stuff like milk and spuds is a bit much!!!

How about considering an eBike? You clearly love riding and keep your bikes a long time and most of us are at an age where future proofing against performance inhibiting injuries, and the inevitable slow physical decline in life, may eventually warrant some assistance.

You hate being off your bike, that much is obvious, and a bit of eAssistance when you have a minor physical problem etc may make the difference between getting a ride in, or not.

Really good eBikes have come a long way since the early days. Trek, Spesh, Orbea all make stunning eBikes that get great reviews from serious cyclists over on YouTube.

Might be worth a thought?

My thoughts are certainly slowly heading in this direction.

The way I see it , you have 3 main questions to ask yourself .
1) Can I afford to spend £5 to £7 grand ?
2) How much to a want a NEW bike ?
3) How much do I love my OLD bike ?
Only you can answer these questions and decide which is most important to you. 😀

( You know if you ask this question on any cycling fb page the answer is aways n+1 😂😂 )

Yes, I found that too. Kids seem to think that your time is their time too.
