Now then, Good Morning all. The forecast says it's -6⁰, my neighbour says -4⁰ and my backyard thermometer shows -3⁰. I think we can conclude it's friggin' cold. Next job is to build and light both the front room fire and back room stove.......now that is seriously cold. My day will be filled with domestics, cleaning, ironing etc. This afternoon I'm going to help a friend with setting up his new Chromebook. He says he has lost everything. I know he has two accounts on the same machine and suspect he has logged into the wrong one so it looks like "everything" is missing. I've yet to encounter any situation where someone has truly lost everything and with a Chromebook all data is held in the cloud.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
If you use an Android phone then it's Settings >Display >Screen Timeout (or similar) and choose your setting. I find short ones irritating and have mine set to 10 minutes.

Thanks for that. I've set it for 5 minutes.

Warrington Council have a good system. You type in your postcode and it tells you what/when the next collection is.
No idea if other councils have similar systems.
Our blue, recycle bin was collected today and is full again. We had 8 people here over Christmas and 8 people create a lot of waste.

Same here, type in postcode and get your bin day ( and a reminder of what can and cannot go in Blue / green bins etc )

Barnet,
Good morning from a chilly Dorset. We're off on the train to the Costa Jurassica town of Weymouth later this morning for our monthly meet up. A tour of the pubs followed by lunch at the excellent Rona bar and grill for some authentic Turkish cuisine. Stay warm folks, like @Dave7 we've " gone gangbusters " with the heating and are considering turning on an extra bar 😁

I do like Weymouth, its a lovely little seaside town. i went first there for holidays as a kid in the early 60's. I remember seeing the train come down the harbour side for the ferries that went to the channel islands and I think there was also one that went to Brittany.

Just a thought for you. You should be able to find a setting which allows the phone to switch on when you look at it. I find that a good one as well.

I have that but it's very moody and works when it feels like.
