HNY strangers 🎉🍻😎
MrsMikeIOW has relapsed into suffering the lurgy, so I went to a pals house for her joint house-warming & NYE party. A nice evening, but despite being the sober one, a lazy start today. Maybe take some decorations down later 🎄
Here’s to health & happiness for the rest of this year 💪
Oh, & a safer running technique for Mo 🫣

I'm up
finally
didn;t get to bed until about 3 as I got into watching some stuff on the Internet
NO - not that - a series I have been watching - and a few episode of House
anyway - didn;t even wake up until 10:30 and now I'm wondering if I should have breakfast or just skip to a proper lunch??

And - hope you recover soon Mo - sounds like a nasty fall
nice to know that you watch has an alert system just in case. I didn;t know such a thing existed - might look for something for my phone
It does sometimes worry me when I am out riding miles away from anywhere
I love being off somewhere and no-one knows where I am or when I will be back - but if something happened........

I do use Strava's beacon thingy so my wife can always check where I am - apparently the GPS failed once and it alerted her to the fact that I didn;t seem to have moved for 30 minutes.
It was quite funny because it is the only time she has rung me to see if I'm OK - and at the time I was chatting to a good looking woman who had stopped me to ask something. - which was a bit creepy

Finally got to bed at 3.30pm and lord knows what time we got to sleep.

Watched YT clips of fireworks in Dubai (light show, v.good), UAE (*iss poor), Sydney (spread too thin), Hong Kong (amazing, went on forever), Singapore (ok, iffy soundtrack), Germany (meh) , Paris (stunning light show) as well as London (same old, same old, good but needs a revamp).

Mrs SD ended up somewhat wobbly last night, ie *issed.

Exercising today (again), got 3 games on the go on Lichess, will do some reading, some dossing and we have a late night planned again.

Mrs SD, in slightly philosophical mood, has just asked "why do we say 'ouch' when we hurt ourselves?" Answers?

Resolution for 2025, complete CC 50k cycling challenge.

My three investigative 'areas' for the year (I do this every year) large-scale cosmology (continuation), quantum mechanics (continuation - struggling with some of it), and new kid on the block; neuroscience with particular focus on human brain structure and function. I was thinking of Fungi as I know very little about them but they look too hideous tbh. Maybe next year.

Have a good day, year & life, everyone!

A guy in his 40's died after falling down the headwall of Striding Edge at the weekend.

He had a tracker device and his poor wife had the awful experience of 'watching' him immobile for a few hours.

His dog (Labrador) was rescued after finding itself stuck on a ledge.

I wonder if he was trying to help his dog and slipped?

Just walked in the drizzle into Dartmouth (still beautiful) now enjoying a flat white, back to the cottage later for a lazy afternoon with the family.

60th Birthday tomorrow!
